Yet again I have received another paypal scam 2nd this week...nothing new

At least the spelling errors are an easily identifiable red flag.. I've seen some that are perfect clones of Paypal's real mailings.. with the URL being so close to https://paypal.com that if you didn't really take the time to look closely, you might get caught..

General thumb.. when you get an email from Paypal saying anything (complaint.. account going to "expire", etc) don't click on any links in the email. Just visit http://www.paypal.com and log into your account directly. If there is any sort of problem, you will see it in there easily enough.

Ah yes… another elite, next-gen, Mission Impossible grade phishing email has landed in your inbox. And by “next-gen,” I mean… straight out of 2004.

Apparently, the “PayPal Account Review Department” now operates out of awakening-mind.net. I guess they couldn’t afford paypal.com anymore. Times are hard. And the wording? Oh, chef’s kiss. Nothing screams legitimate global financial institution quite like grammar that looks like it got run over by a bus and spelling errors that would get you kicked out of primary school.

You almost have to admire the optimism here. I mean, even my grandma, who still thinks Wi-Fi runs on “magic beams”, would see through this scam in about 0.3 seconds. We’re in 2025, boys. We’ve got 2FA, SMS and email verification codes, face id, security keys, and AI fraud detection systems that can spot a dodgy login faster than your mum can yell “Dinner’s ready!”

These scammers clearly missed the last two decades of cybersecurity updates. Maybe they think the internet stopped evolving when MySpace was cool. Someone please get them a coursera account, a crash course on not being terrible at crime, and maybe a fresh set of phishing templates that don’t look like they were printed from a fax machine.

Honestly, if they’re going to waste your time, at least make it interesting. Ask them to send you a deepfake video of Elon Musk begging you for your PayPal info, or an AI-generated “PayPal robot” that sings its request in autotune.

But no… just let them keep sending you these relics from the Jurassic era of scams. At this point, they’re not criminals. They’re curators. Preserving ancient scam culture for future generations.
