Hey!

I was just thinking about this, and was wondering what everyone else thought about it. Do you think there will ever be another promotion like the .info promotion for a popular new extension? During the .info promotion, the .info domains were going like crazy, as they were free, but now I think you could say they are fizzling out in new regristations at least. I was wondering two things. (1)If you think any future extension will do anything similar to this in the future, and (2)If so, do you think they learned anything from the .info launch, and would they change anything for this next promotion. I think this could turn into a pretty interesting discussion,

Ya, I saw this promotion before. However, I am talking about more popular extensions. .info was a fairly popular extension. I may be wrong, but I don't think . nu is going to be anywhere close to .info.

No, .nu won't come close. I can't say what popular extension will be next, but I can assure you, you will see me there. :gl:

But what I am really trying to get at, is do you think that next popular new extension will be released free, or do you think it will be more of a traditional launch? Personally, if I was going to launch a new extension, I don't know if I would look at the .info launch as an example of a good launch for the .info extension, or a non effective launch. I guess a lot of it will depend on the renewal rates of the .info. Anyone else have thoughts?

non-effective. The .info was around before that anyway.

It’ll depend on what they do when the free year is over. If their registration drops and all the domains registered back then (from September to December) go back to the market, then I doubt another TLD or ccTLD will follow their steps, as it only will damage the reputation of their extension. If it works you can count on new promotions in many other extensions.

Ya, that was my basic feelings about this.
