Most of us know the difference between end user sales and domainer sales but some group them all together because they don't know any better.

When looking at Namebio's daily sales report remember that most Godaddy auctions, Flippa, Dropcatch and Namejet sales are domainer type buys. Buy Domains and Sedo are end user sales accept when there is an auction at Sedo then those would be domainer sales like the .at auction that recently ended. This is not always 100% the case but for the majority of sales.

It's important to separate wholesale pricing from retail pricing. If you don't separate the different sales into their respective categories then your understanding of pricing can be all over the map.

Much of what has been said in this thread is very true

In the end it boils down to what the buyer will ultimately pay for a given domain.

They will pay what they will pay - end of story.

A while back I made a suggestion to Michael about a change to the NB interface where you could select multiple venues instead of just one.

Michael implemented this change within the same day if my memory is correct, and I have found it extremely useful.

While there is no perfect set of parameters to use to filter out all except end user sales, I do have a few settings I use to get somewhat closer.

One is to use the multiple selections of the Venue field to filter out drop catchers and auction houses, and concentrate on venues that lean more toward end user sales such as Buy Domains, Sedo, etc.

I also filter out numbers and set the minimum domain length to 5 characters (to filter out chips and shorter domains that could skew the results)

I the set minimum price range quite high to filter out much of the auction sales from auctions at venues that have auctions as well as many end user sales such as Godaddy.

Of course this very far from a perfect solution but it does help get somewhat closer to the possible value for an end user domain.

By the way @Michael, it would be great if you could do the same thing to the Extensions field as you did with the Venues field this way we could select only the tld's we are interested in and filter out the others such as the many new gtld's.

Just a suggestion ;)

What about an option for "Legacy gTLDs" similar to the "All New gTLDs" or "All ccTLDs" option? Might be easier than having to select 5-10 every time. If that works for you guys what do you want in it? Just com/net/org/info/biz or some other mix? Thanks.

It would be great if we could individually select some or all the most popular extensions like .com, .net. .org etc.

@Michael

I was checking the graph at the bottom and I feel it may be missing something.

What I mean is, the parameter to watch is the "weekly average price", but what if..... for several weeks there are a lot of sales (think CHIP LLLL.com) averaging $1,200 a pop , and suddenly there is only a couple of weekly sales, although still averaging around $1,200 per domain ?

Maybe the sales volume would be a better parameter to watch ?
