.mobi Amputation*mobi - What chance does this have?

Hello.

I am totally unfamilar with .mobi since I haven't spent any time looking into it. Without paying any real attention to .mobi names, I have noticed some pretty decent sales every now and again, but not sure which names best work for .mobi - e.g. do some industries or name types work better for .mobi than others, etc.?

What could be done with this one? Just picked it up 'cause it was available. Go figure. I just submitted it to PremiumDomain.com to see what they say as a starting point.

As far as parking is concerned, any suggestions? I don't seem to make much at Sedo as I would have thought. Is there a parking service you think is better for this type of name or is it worth my time?

Is there somewhere that I might be able to auction it and some others in the health industry and make some decent money in the future when I eventually put it up for sale?

I'm looking for direction here. New territory.

Thanks.

Could have value later. I think it's a good pickup, worth the reg, IMO.

Most folks here park at Namedrive or Sedo. I've tried both, and prefer Sedo.

What is, or would be, the mobile application for the (any .MOBI) domain name? :gl:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies.

I will determine the application as I learn more about .mobi. Typically, I have an idea going in. In this case, it was staring me in the face so I grabbed it for $7.70. Couldn't wait on doing the research first the way this domain aftermarket is growing.

Thanks, groundctrl.

I'm gonna take a look at the valuation, read up some more on .mobi now that I have a "vested" interest, and see where it goes and try to get a better idea about the .mobi future and what this domain can potentially bring in. I just need to do some more research.

Who knows, I may take you up on it.

BTW - I acquired 4 other .mobi's the other day using the same hem hem (just clearing my throat :hehe:) 'logic' as for this one....

They are:
~~~~~~
HEARTMURMUR*MOBI
OTOLARYNGOLOGIST*MOBI
OTOLARYNGOLOGISTS*MOBI
PULMONOLOGISTS*MOBI
The use for these could be finding a list of specialists or group practices and/or information about the subject using e.g. iPhone, Blackberry or any mobile phone (Note: I was just reading .mobi threads so I have a little more info than an hour ago).
I'm seeing more people trying to surf using their mobile phones. Also, I've seen questions from programmers asking how to properly display their open source software applications to the mobile phone format, and that was nearly a year ago. I haven't attempted to convert any open source software formats to a mobile format, yet, either. I heard it is being done and successfully so. Now I'm seeing that this is what .mobi is about (?).
Next my question would be for 'amputation*mobi' - I've only had it a few hours and I purchased 'amputation*tv' also. Would an end-user want to secure both or is it reasonable to sell separately? From one perspective, I would think if they want to show videos about amputation, maybe they'd want folks to be able to view them on their mobile phone? Isn't that the point of .mobi? Just asking - again this is fresh territory and I just began reading the threads, but now I have to come back to it due to the time and the million and one things I need to get done tonight+. :'(
Of course, I am looking to move more domains so never say never... It's about business not emotion with me - I am not emotionally tied to domain names, per se. I just want a reasonable price for them.
Thanks.
If you're looking to sell this name now, I would say it wouldn't be worth much more than reg fee at this time, maybe more later. Unless of course you can find an enduser that just has to have it.
Any name that is not premium or LLL are only getting very low offers, for the most part. That could change quickly though.
Not worth much of anything right now. I don't see how you could make a successful mobile site with it, and I don't think any medical offices would want to use the word Amputation in their website address.
Good luck, and I recommend doing some more research before making any more purchases. There are very few (despite what people say) .mobi names available that can really justify purchasing without a strong plan to develop.
True, in today's market. But tomorrow's market might be different. I have reg'd some for reg fee in the last few days that would have definite value if the market were to pick up a bit.
What exactly would "pick up a bit" have to be though? I've always agreed with Jeff that .mobi isn't really going anywhere unless people develop. Sure, if you've got the money to risk, go for it. But so many new people see members here that they look up to spending loads of cash on dictionarywordnoonehaseverheardof.mobi that they think they need to jump on the bandwagon. They have a lot better chance of success registering TwoKeyword.com's, and then reinvesting the money earned from those on actual premium .mobi's. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a chance, but why start out taking risks? Establish yourself, get to know the business, TAKE A DAY TO THINK ABOUT REGISTERING A NAME, and then start shooting from the hip.
Thanks for your replies, folks.
Although I've only done less than minimal research on this particular issue which is not my norm, what I've read shows that no one is quite sure where this .mobi market is headed. At least right now, I'm siding with those who are optimistic due to the introduction of the iPhone and mobile devices like Blackberry et al that are getting into the hands of 'everyday people' not just business people because its cool to have (and show off). For some, mobile phones are becoming more of a mobile computer than a laptop for certain applications as the software matures.
For $7.70, it became a 'pay now ask questions later' situation. I spend that much on lunch. So I skip a meal...
If I had taken the opposite approach of 'wait til the market shakes out' and someone found a use for amputation*mobi especially in light of our troops, young and old, coming back from Iraq, Afghanistan, and who knows where else, I would kick myself unrelentlessly and hang out with the downtroddens.
So, speculation won out this time. The risk? Miniscule. I don't plan to purchase any more soon (that's what I say right now) but I did want to have a little slice of what could turn out to be a very nice pie (or not). Who really knows?
Thanks again. I enjoy these convos.
In answer to your question:
Amputation*mobi - what chance does this have?
I would say that if you were challenged & it went to wipo,
you wouldn't have a 'leg to stand on' ROFL :lol: 8^X
RegFee,
"Pick up a bit" meaning getting actual offers on my "hand reg'd" names like I used to before this slowdown. How much do you think "Parisian.mobi" would be worth in a .mobi frenzy? I think a lot more than reg fee.
Look, I bought some to be developed, and some to sell for a profit. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing both.
arnie, a very optimistic fellow... :)
FYI - PremiumDomain.com scored it a 367. Interpret it as you might.
