First the domain is sold.
But second, I have been doing this my way for months now.
What I do is register an Overture w/ Extension name that I think has the potential for traffic. I base that on if it is a typo what site is it a typo of and does that site have real traffic. If it is a couple of words do those words have meaning together and search engine saturation together?
Once I register a domain Moniker sets the name servers at Sedo so it appears parked. But minutes after I get it I offer it online with no stats at all for usually $50. This way if someone wants to take the gamble and give me a few bucks for my time in finding and researching it I think that's fair to both parties.
But if after a day or two no one has purchased it I go in and associated it with my Sedo account. From that point forward I have stats on the name. But it's only fair if I am going to offer it not to test it first.
The result is someone can have a shot at buying an OVT w/ EXT name for $50 which is less than Snap or Pool charges for a backorder. And have you ever tried to backorder a name with OVT w/ EXT? They almost always get auctioned to $x,xxx or more.
Anyway, I hope that explains it. And again this domain is sold on another forum so this info is just for those who were curious.
