I would have NEVER thought that besides NP, DigitalPoint would prove to be the worst place for me to sell my names, and GFY has proven to be the best, even though both forums seem to have about 90% of the population only wanting to pay 20% of a name's worth to buy it. Simply amazing...there are still people at DigitalPoint that think LLL.com are worth considerably less than $3,000, and yet almost everyone's selling point for domains to sell there is PR, which COMES AND GOES with each Google update. Unbelievably bass ackwards.

For what it's worth, now I'm intrigued about possibly going there just to BUY names. Not that I've seen much of any great quality names being sold there, but still, worth a thought.

I think DP is a good place to go for things other than names like development and all that - that encompasses. I don't think they are on mark when it comes to names. NP has that market cornered imo. I'm out of it and don't know what / where / who you mean by gfy so no opinion there.

Yea, GFY is an adult webmaster forum and they have a sales board there. Both of my 5-figure sales were to people on that board, plus the highest offer I've gotten on OTY.com has been there as well. The upfront aura one feels there is that most of the members there don't know what names are worth, but it seems to be the lurkers that don't really post but email and/or ICQ people and handle purchases and sales privately...they are the ones spending the dough. It's funny though because the high bids/sales I've made there have been of NON-adult names, and they've actually laughed at my pricing for some of the adult names I thought they'd be drooling over. I'm like "that's fine, I'm laughing too...all the way to the bank."

DP is just hilarious though. Looking through their names for sale, it's all about PR and backlinks...the name quality is kiddie extraordinaire...there's no rhyme or reason to the name quality there, it's all about what has PR and what doesn't. Pretty amazing really.

Meanwhile, the TRUE domain forums like NP and DNF are roughly the same for sales, though I've done more business here than there. I would imagine Domain State is probably similar too in name economy.

There's one guy on there that is always looking for big dollar names, I beleive gfy may be part of the circuit for a few of the big buyers on the hunt for both mainstream and xxx names.

There needs to be a site where big domain buyers unite so we know where to find them. It's not always easy! I haven't sold OTY.com yet, but as I said, I got the highest bid so far at GFY, $7,500. Not too shabby, but it's pronounceable and has a few nice acronyms too...hoping for more, maybe hopelessly! :p

I've not had much luck selling on DP either - got a few $15 offers on LLL.infos and several people who agreed to buy domains and then never paid. I have sold a couple of pretty average (but PR 5) domains for mid $xxx there in the past though..

Have you ever tried to get names listed at www.bigticketdomains.com ? (Broker) It looks like Rick Schwartz - Roy Messer and probably a few other big names list their domains there - they also send out emails with new names for sale.

DS: Just about all around dead, a few active people left...
NP: Great place to sell cheap-moderate names
DNF: Best place to sell moderate priced names. Sometimes even the occasional $x,xxx sale.

Yea, no love for the keyword adult ccTLD names there. I thought for sure I'd get someone to buy Porn.md there, but they just don't understand how rare those names are or something. Still, the lurkers are the active big buyers, so I always list whatever even if I think it will be criticized.

I mostly agree with what has been written about GFY. The posters are mixed with cheapskates, ultimate lowballers, people with no knowledge of domains, & throw in some nice buyers.

Many buyers there seem focused on the well known extensions & don't want to play the foreign extension game.
