Although I am not if everyone there knows the real values, there some not so good ones listed for over two thousand, the cluster of names that bb29 was in, all the others were over 2k but with good letters/numbers at least. That's why bb29 stood out .... the price

No, unfortunately I didn't get in early. Not early early if you know what I mean. It just seems like in the last couple/few weeks they have really begun to shoot up. Before then you could still get them quite reasonable. Though there still are deals.

Why LLNN.com have more prefrence than LLLN and LNLN

LLNN is preferred by end users who like the format of the 2:2 ratio as @Chirag has pointed out.

More companies in the west are choosing LLNN number formats for products/brands, and China has been a LLNN end user for a long time. Most top tier LLNN's have been registered since the 90's and early 2000's.

I wouldn't be shocked if LLNN chips eventually started fetching $1k+ at some point this year in some capacity; pairs or ending in 8. Just comparing this rise to the rise of LLLL and 6N, it happens so fast it's almost shocking.

I remember when 6N was a joke, and I registered 8 of the best ones I could dropcatch (aabcaa.com) over a 2 week time. Now I wish I picked up even the 'okay ones'. I also remember when LLNN was a joke some doubted - now look at the prices.

I don't think LLLL has to increase for this to happen, because I think the LLNN namespace was just undervalued as a whole and needed some time to catch up to other valuable counterparts.

Maybe all CCCC.COM will rise, I can't speak on that but it would make sense if it did. If a namespace with 400k+ variations exploded, there is no reason why the 4C namespace shouldn't either. I would rank LLNN's at the top of the 4C food chain because of end user use, followed by NNLL - based on 'end user' use.

If these are holiday auction prices, then late January is going to be a nice month for LLNN indeed, these prices are shooting up like rockets.

I wasn't following LLNN in Oct but I read about when - a few hundred was it? - dropped. Was this one person who let them drop, does anyone know? Just curious why so many became available at once.

I think when this happened it had a negative effect on the market for LLNN, because one would wonder why an LLNN buyer would drop so many potentially valuable domains at once. However, the auctions were fun that day, full of auction snipers and pro domaining auction strategists - everyone into LLNN won some good ones and missed some good ones that day.

I assume it was someone who expected offers to just roll in and were only into the names for a short hold. When that didn't pan out in their expected time frame, they let it drop.

That's my diatribe for the day. Happy investing to all.

As I understand:

In Chinese, words are usually replresented by 2 letter combos. Not only provinces and cities. For example:

sg construction Shīgōng
sb equipment Shèbèi
gs company Gōngsī
zj expert Zhuānjiā
xy credit Xìnyòng

So ZJ23 can be a cheaper replacement for Z23. LLNN is easier to comprehend and remember and they are also symmetric

There is no syllable in Chinese, only letters or combinations of letters which sounds like pinyins (about 413 of them).
Also, yes about 30% of the Chinese provincial abbreviations are 3 combos of 3 letters:
HEB: Hebei
HEN: Henan
HUB: Hubei

SHG: Shangai
SAX: Shanxi
TWN: Taiwan
