As many of you already know, Ali sent a newsletter today to his RainDrop subscribers.

This time is was not to advertise domains or release a new blog post. No, it was much bigger.

Zandibot is stepping back from the domain industry and just put his new marketplace and a huge list of domains for sale on Flippa. The bid has already reached $30,000 and will probably fetch more more.

I was a bit surprised to read that news so recently after launching RainDrop. But family is the most important thing in the world and I wish him and his family the best for the future.

If you wanted to start your own marketplace under an amazing name, it could be your chance to have it all ready to use.

its really great man
Yes but there is like a month to go, so situation doesn't seem to dire.

Based on comments he would be seeking over $100k, not sure if a reseller could pay that.

8888.xyz comes with an $3,xxx annual renewal, after the next renewal he will have over $6,xxx into it just in owning it for 2 years..

Chinese are smart they know about these renewals, the names sold at west.cn auctions sold for large reported amounts, but there renewals were scaled to reg fee.

I know that, just saying if he's making an exit not every domain is listed. 3k plus for this one per year is a hard sell today, maybe not later but I think it will drop if we don't see a buyer soon..

It was on the site, don't see it now.

I believe most of us here agree Ali is a great guy who did a lot for the industry (i do) and all of us should agree that family is the most important thing above anything else. But I don't see why it won't be fitting to discuss the value/quality of the portfolio he just put up for sale?

Nobody is going to buy his portfolio out of pity. I'm pretty sure Ali doesn't expect that either.

100% agree

true true!
He's not worried about this thread, loves the free publicity. The more active this thread gets the better his auction will do, look at travel.agency. ;)

How does the bidding work at Flippa? Bidder 2 was the high bid at $4,800 and then Bidder 1 outbid him at $10,000 and then Bidder 1 outbid himself three different times to still be the high bidder at $40,000. How does he outbid himself?

.....life can slap a person all of a sudden and puts him into a position he never thought he'd be in......

-Rami

This is the million dollar statement!! I am intimately familiar with this myself.... Life can change in an instant. Anyone who is a parent will understand that there is constant worry for your children.

I fully hope whatever the issue is with his son, that it can be resolved to their satisfaction.

I also hope that Ali sells his domains for as much as he can for he may need the money to support and resolve the problem the family faces. Best wishes only Ali!

The majority of those two-worder .coms appear to be recently hand-regged.
Then they would appear to be there to fill out the auction and give it a certain look. Ali is a crafty and resourceful guy. I admire his salesmanship. He's made a lot of valuable contributions to the industry. He was always upbeat and positive and I never heard him speak harshly of anyone. I wish him well with this auction and with his family. I know he'll continue to be successful in what ever he chooses to do next.

It's not about his names , it's about a fellow domainer who gave much for the community and who is going through the vicissitudes of life that can shake a human to his roots and soul. May The Merciful heal , protect and guide his Beloved ones.

As for the names, just look at some sales of Mike Mann .. most here will not put 10% of the sales price on them !! From pitch Black to the whitest of white , all are right in their own ways.

@ steitieh @SirDrago , Thank's

Ali is no doubt a great human besides being a successful domain investor and trader. No need to criticize as every domain investor surely has made mistakes (even bulk deals bring some out of the box names that may not be the actual thrust of the buyer) throughout the venture but very few are as helpful and broad minded as Ali is. Just wish him the best of luck with whatever he aims and wishes for the next and best wishes for his son too.

Against Flippa ToS?

Listings can be sold at any given time, without notice.

Is Raindrop not for sale now? I don't see it listed on Flippa and there is no link on the Raindrop website anymore.

So this auction never went thru with it's cycle, it was closed out before it ended, no way media options paid anywhere close to the $85K that raindrop.com, and vrvg.com that was stated was offered for the two in the ad.
