gore is the biggest hypocrite in the eco world. this f$#@ owns a top polluting zinc mine in the USA for one and flys private jets. .eco who cares!!?? its all a load of bs and the suckers that get on board just like mobi cn etc etc etc will get burned

I don't understand the argument that each new TLD forces brands into buying it to protect their trademark. If someone registers CocaCola.eco, what's the worst that could happen? On the off chance .eco becomes a huge hit, then use cyber squatting laws to get the name back. If .eco is not a huge hit, then who cares? No one is going to type in the domain and it's probably not going to come up on search engines either.

There is also the possibility that .eco could be developed as a private registrar that would not sell domains to the general public.

Well it could be an image thing. Coca-cola makes a ton of money. So if they allow some 14 yr old domainer to register coca-cola.eco, then a small number of people could think "wow, coke is too lazy and cheap to spend 10 bucks protecting its image? I'm drinking Pepsi, especially with their cool new Obama-esque logo!!"

Honestly, how many environmental organizations would register a .eco domain? And how many (pro)active "eco" organizations exist in the first place? (reply with stats if you have them.) .eco is equally useful as .travel. It's really all about the .ceo, mr. gore. I give him credit for being a clever business man though.

I simply wanted to clarify that I do not like the .eco tld regardless of its originator. If Harry Truman (the last real american figurehead :imho: ) came back from the dead and supported .eco, I still would not like the tld :bah:
