I cherry-picked a little from this thread
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/320317-how-sickening-another-ebayer-trying-make.html
Take a look at this guy's initial post (he gave it the title "You People are Funny"):
Yes i am the owner of these domains:
Vatragedy.com
tragedyofvirginia.com
tragedyofblacksburg.com
tragedyofvirginiatech.com
You People talk so much Crap, that it's just funny. Jealousy is something though, because if Your asses had the opportunity to jump on the band wagon and get these great domains, that will be needed in the future, you people wouldn't be saying S*** but will be doing the same thing. I am selling these yes. How do you people know if i am donating? You don't.
And my reply to this:
Oh yes, we are jealous of the fact that you regged terrible domains out of bad taste and failed to make you $25,000 for your family. Boo hoo. Get a job, asshole.
You are the only one who sees them as being more than reg fee in the long run. They are very terrible domains and although they wouldn't be hard to brand, the news willl ultimately drown away soon.
"Jealousy is something though, because if Your asses had the opportunity to jump on the band wagon and get these great domains, that will be needed in the future, you people wouldn't be saying S*** but will be doing the same thing. "
No we wouldn't. You are not a domainer but only a cold-hearted frigid little man who wants to cash in on the deaths of dozens of people. The domains aren't 'great' or even 'good.' I guarantee you'll never sell them for $1,000 let alone $25,000. What are we supposed to be jealous of, again?
"I am selling these yes. How do you people know if i am donating? You don't."
Yes, we do know. You do not mention a charity anywhere in the listing and the entire thing is saturated with sales propaganda, telling people to buy it for its potential. Your petty opening doesn't quite strike me as sympathetic and I know I'm not alone on that thought.
I'm sorry to the mods if this sounds harsh but when one person comes into a forum and tries to beat his critics down with unjustified pretence, what are we to do? This domain didn't sell for $25,000 and never will. If you're worried about your family, kid, join Welfare. You aren't a domainer.
And here is his tail-between-his-legs reply:
I would just like to say, that i didn't want to start any trouble. It so happens i am new to this domain hobby, and i woke up one morning with an idea. Honestly, i spent months researching and studying, on ways to create special domains that would gain a lot of "attention" and so obviously i did. I currently have a few in my collection. The Virginia tragedy ones, was an idea i got while i was watching the news. I am really not a sick person. I just got that domain idea like everyone else who is in this hobby does. So i put my idea basically on a domain registration. I look to sell them, make a few bucks, and also donate to the tragedy fund. thats my plan. Also, i found new ways to get great domains, fast, quick, and easy. It's my own technique. I want to apologize for getting angry at you people for discriminating on my ideas, and domain choices that i have made. Seriously, I am just trying to put food on the table for my family. I wan't to pursue this domain opportinity that has come into my life, and make the best of it. To me, this is the best job to have in the world. just to sit on my ass and think, think, think, and then hit the jackpot with sales.
To all my friends
Relax....
Just wanted to say, that why do you have to say all these terrible things about me. I didn't do anything but register a domain, just lik U DID. i didn't have anything to say about the millions of domains people have registered. theres no reason. yes i left my email on the domains i registered, i don't care. also, you can't tell if i'm donating because it doesn't say it in my ebay auctions!, you know why smart guy! because EBAy contacted me via Telephone, they would never call anyone first of all. and told me "you need to put ur auction up without donations, and make personal donations without anyone knowing, because it doesn't obide by there Ebay policies". The reason is, ebay doesn't let u put up acutions donating to tragedies or anything, so they said i needed to put it up without donations, and then donate on my own time. which is there policy. If i could of listed with information of donation like i did the first day it got taken down, then i would of kept it up that way, but ebay didn't let me. i had to relist, without donations! but in a couple of weeks i will relist them, and make them lower price, and yes i am still donating
Why do ppl BS when they're caught in lies? Is it arrogance or a belief that it'll clean the mess they made?
See? ppl thought he was an
asshole, too. It wasn't just me. My earlier, long-winded post holds true.
Edit: Just saw this in the thread. The domain owner tried to justify himself:
also, you can't tell if i'm donating because it doesn't say it in my ebay auctions! [...] The reason is, ebay doesn't let u put up acutions donating to tragedies or anything, so they said i needed to put it up without donations, and then donate on my own time. which is there policy.
And the reply that caught the lie:
You can use eBay's "Giving Works" program to donate to more than 10,000 nonprofits. One of those is called "UNITED IN CARING FUND FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE VIRGINIA TECH TRAGEDY" (it's run by the United Way). If you do that, it will show up in your listing, and buyers will know that a certain percentage (which you specify) of the sale price will go to that charity.
:p
