Hi All,

I'm looking to change the DNS on all of the domains that I have available for sale to Afternic, but I wanted to get your thoughts/ experiences of Afternic nameservers NS3/NS4 and NS5/NS6?

I have all of my domain names on Afternic with Buy It Now pricing and Flooring pricing. I have heard some people recommend NS3/NS4 and other suggesting NS5/NS6.

Any thoughts, feedback and experiences would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

David

April has been great so far ☺️
3 sales / 7K in three days! I would say 3 & 4 and fast transfer do the trick mostly. I'm not a fan of 5&6 as it's too direct for the average customer. It also lacks anticipation which is critical in sales.
I think @twiki uses it. Not recommended if you aim for xxxx, but if you are a flipper or a discount domainer..
IMHO

Why don't you just say use 5 & 6. Are 1 & 2 having too many requests and are slow?

The situation has changed since this thread was started. At this time, all (six) Afternic.com nameservers respond with the same A records and IP addresses. Nowadays, the Afternic lander type should be configured from within the Afternic dashboard, not by setting NS servers.

Note though, that ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com have an incorrect technical configuration, and Afternic still hasn't fixed the "lame delegation" issues. Therefore, it's recommended that you set ns3/ns4 or ns5/ns6, which do not have these issues. It will work just fine.

Sorry that Afternic is making such a mess of this.

Anyone can confirm, ns1 ns2 have the "lame delegation" issues currently?

NS1&2 are really complicated..If the previous owner had parked the domain with GD, then you have to send them screenshots that you are current owner. It's not enough that the domain is in your afternic account. If you don't see a sales lander or ads, that's probably the case..That's what happened to me when I was testing NS1&2.
I had to send many screenshots and the problem was not fully solved. Anyway, no big loss..

I know some of my domains resolved to a blank page on ns1 and ns2. As soon as I changed to ns3 & 4 or ns 5 & 6 it resolved instantly with no changes made in afternic. This was as recent as last week.

That blank page could be some trademark restriction sometimes

Stick with ns5 and ns6 nameservers ,yesterday I wanted to buy a domain that I thought I could sell for 5k easily many many many endusers and hacks for this 15 years old domain ,and the domain was not priced. anyway I called the godaddy broker number and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and waited on hold, and so on for 23 min, on speaker phone, and gave up. thats why godaddy sales are sinking these domains roll into the general wait on hold for a ----ing hour godaddy pool ,in other words your sell thru rate is now a fraction of 2 percent ,time to roll these into a sav.com like program
things changed ns1 and ns2 work great now for afternic for a buy it now price 2years flew buy in a wink

NS1/NS2: zero problems on 8k names. NS5/6? Struggle city — seems popularity comes at a price.
I don't understand. What issues do you have with NS5/NS6?

I have no issues with NS1 and NS2, I don’t use 5 and 6 anymore. Someone thanked me for a post I made two years ago, so I just gave my latest feedback. If 5 and 6 were actually reliable all along, I wouldn’t have switched back to 1 and 2.
I don’t want anyone following advice that’s not what I use today. I stick with 1 and 2 for bins, which still doesn’t stop low-life GoDaddy brokers from offering me 25% of my bin prices. What happened to the so-called “compulsive buy”? Situations like this are exactly why Nicks got canned.

I believe you're using old terminology that's no longer accurate.

"ns1 and ns2 work great now for afternic for a buy it now price"
"I stick with 1 and 2 for bins"

The Afternic lander type is no longer set with NS, but in the Afternic dashboard.

https://www.namepros.com/threads/af...gation-finally-resolved.1358059/#post-9425413

Before April 2023, the Afternic lander type was selected solely by configuring your domain with one of three nameserver pairs—ns1/ns2, ns3/ns4 or ns5/ns6—each pair delivering a different landing page. In April 2023 Afternic simplified this: all six nameservers now return the same A record and IP address for every possible Afternic lander. You configure the lander type in the Afternic Dashboard since then.

https://blog.afternic.com/lander-selection-redefining-your-use-of-afternic-landing-pages/

Afternic provides a number of landing page options for customers including Cashparking, Request Price, and Buy it Now.

In the past, in order to access those landing pages, you would need to switch nameservers to move between them. For example, Request Price would be ns3.afternic.com and ns4.afternic.com, with Buy it Now taking ns5.afternic.com and ns6.afternic.com.

In order to continue to add to the selection of landing pages that we offer, Afternic has made a substantial change to the way that you use access our landing pages.

From now on, customers already using Afternic nameservers will now use Afternic’s portfolio dashboard to update their landing page settings either individually or in bulk. You will not need to change Afternic nameservers to change landing pages.

For customers adding domain names to Afternic, here is our recommended flow going forward:
  • Set your domain name to ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com
  • Add your domain name to your Afternic portfolio
  • By default, your domain name will show the Request Price landing page
  • If you want to change the landing page that is shown, this will be done through your Afternic portfolio page
  • Any changes to your Afternic landing page selection will, in the future, be actioned from your Afternic portfolio page
