Adwords keyword tool. Not specific

Before I could get directly the number of searches per month from the adwords keyword tool. Now I get only keyword ideas and most often I dont get the specific amount of searches when searching for different keywords. Other keywords come up. Am I doing something wrong or is this a change from google?
