Advise to Monetize Small Portfolio

Hello,
I'm not in the business of monetizing domain names; however I have had a few domains parked at sedo.com for a couple of years because I acquired them as part of an asset acquisition. I have not done any optimization on the parking and they earn a negligible amount.

I am now starting to wonder if there is a way to work with a 3rd party to monetize the domains. I would point the DNS in return for profit sharing. Can anyone provide me with some advise on this? What kind of problems might arise? How can I trust someone not to get the domains blacklisted?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks for you time.

-Michael

Hi Michael,

There really is no way to monetize the domains other than to simply list them with one of the parking companies. This is because you cannot promote the domain in any way.

The traffic that would come to the domain must come in the form of direct browser type-ins or links that already exist for the name when you purchased it.

If I am wrong about this I would ask anyone else to comment, but this has always to been my understanding.

I personally recommend parkingcrew.com, over sedo, but others will have different opinions about their favorite parking company. Sedo though is considered by most to be further down the list of the best choices to park a domain.

Thanks for that advise. I've also noticed that sedo is not well respected for their parking services. Perhaps I will search the forums for more info on parking companies.

I hear what your saying about the domain itself not being monetized. What I am wondering now is if the domains have any value to their keywords. Perhaps someone could build and maintain blogs/websites that would be required to monetize them with advertising and referrals. In that case I would only want a small percentage of revenue, like 80/20 split.

Anyway, I think it's a long shot because I can't imagine someone wanting to put in the work if they don't own the domain, but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks again for your advise.
