Advice on selling a group and my thinking in general....

I have about 55 domains (well it may be about 70-80 if I hit the buy key in the next hour or so....). I have a few themes and I belive some good names - 90% .com's - some .ca's

My thinking is to sell the names as a package deal. Where is the best venue for maximum dollar to do this?

None of the sites are developed - about 10 are parked with various companies, and I'm waiting to hear if the series of name I sent to fabulous are good enough for them to park - even though it doesn't meet their 50 domain minimum. (I guess if Fabulous accepts them - that already would be a good sign of the values).

I've been playing with the free online www.swiftappraisal.com/ of course this is a useful by very subjective tool. When i use it - even conservatively some of the individual domains price out in the low x,xxx.

(None of the domains are adult oriented)

Should I post all the domains as a package somewhere like Sedo or here or on some board? Part of me is fearful that if I even list my names (and therefore the themes) that people with lots of capital may buy up the rest of the theme before I can....is this selfish or scarcity thinking or wise?

A infusion of cash would be a good thing right now. At the same time - I'm new to this business and I think I have a pretty good stable of names to start developing.

It's easy to buy and hard to sell - there is a part of me that doesn't want to sell anything.....and another side that says - get real, you bought some good stuff - sell it make some money pay some bills and the same imagination that helped you buy these will do it again.

Have any of you veterans "been here"?

What domains do you have? No one can tell you what your going to get for your names if we dont know what the names are.

Once you get your package completely together, I would probably try and list it on the forums for sale as a package. There are many veterans with deep pockets who have the money to give you a good price if you have a good domain package.

I don't think you'll have a problem with people trying to buy up all of the domains of the theme that you're working with. It's probably a good idea to get the money you can now. Then, maybe you can invest it in more domain registrations, or I would also suggest looking into getting a few good generic domains with parking revenue. They always bring in money as long as you find good domains.

Thanks that swift appeal tool was very helpful and interesting. I just might have to use it sometimes...

as for selling packages. It hurts the good ones but can also help rid of ones that wouldnt sell individually. so thats a wash -- but selling many means selling wholesale (resale) and you wont get nearly as much as end users would pay. most people sell packages if they ever get an offer. thats the hard part.

I disagree somewhat with have Fleege said above. I think that packages are very helpful especially when selling to end users. If end users are going to pay big bucks for a .com domain, they want to make sure they are going to get all of the traffic they can. Selling the other extensions along with the .com can increase your negotiating power and/or final selling price. If you have good domains, it does not hurt to reg at least some of the other extensions. I tend to never worry about the .name, .ws, or .biz. domains. .info, .org, and .net can be helpful to included in the package along with the country extension (.ca, .us, .eu, .co.uk, etc.)
