How do you deal with someone who e-mails you after finding your email wanting to buy one of your names,

Someone emailed me offering 50 for a domain that expires in november,

Do you counter offer? or just take the offer

I am not sure who the person is other than the email they used, the seem to have a small portfolio of names,

I am very new to the being approached to sell a domain, How would you handle it.
Thanks
Tim

The real question is, will you renew this domain name in Nov if the offer wasnt made?

If the answer is yes, then clearly the domain has some value to you, or you see value in it. Honestly, I think a $50 offer is wayyyyyy too low. I would suggest getting an appraisal on the domain to see what others think of it. But, honestly, I would counter regardless.

The real question is how much... Ive found that 4-6x the original offer is a common place to find the sale. Most interested parties will never offer their cap, as they dont want to pay more than they have to. Since your new, I strongly recommending asking an expierenced or senior NamePro's member for assistance and suggestions.

Consider these factors as well.

Google Returns with "Your Term" the higher the number, the better your domain is.

Overture is outdated, but still a good guide for what people are looking for. http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

Something many people overlook, is SE rank. You can see if your domain is indexed at google/yahoo by typing in site:yourdomain.com etc If you are indexed, you are probally ranked for some keywords if the domain has some age. This tool will help you out with that as well. http://rankingcheck.com/

Check other extensions and other way's the domain could be used or spelled, if they are available, it's going to be hard to get a premium price, if they are all taken, then again, this raises value.

depends on the domain name. would probably have to see it to know whether $50 is good. but I've only sold a few.
