Advice needed - Gift? Gifts? Giftshop?

I need some help from you guys.

My friend wants to start a gift web site (focusing on City/County)
The city & county have same name.

Which one sounds better?

1. (cityname)gift.com
2. (cityname)gifts.com
3. (cityname)giftshop.com
4. Anything else?

If they are not registered, get them all... that way competition cant get them!

Domain names are cheap (10 bux a year or so)

also consider:

gifts(cityName).com
giftshop(cityName).com
gift(cityName)com

Also consider the first and last letter in the cityName.
winnipeggifts.com might be a problem because of the double "g"
or gifttoronto.com

i will agree with kubativity, get all of them or if you are low on budget,

get the shortest and sweet one.

cos, it boils down to easier management (the name), the logo, and etc when you incorporate the name of the site into the design of the site.

***gifts.com is best for sure. But you should still get all of them for these reasons:

1. prevent competition form grabbing them.
2. in case you change your mind or if language trends change*
3. you could use the other names to post simple content sites that link to your main site to increase your SEO rankings.
4. you will be able to catch user errors. If you own ***gift.com and advertise it, some users might make the mistake of going to gifts.com or vice versa.
5. you might sell the one you dont use for the actual site.

when in doubt, pay the 6 bucks for the name, dont be cheap.
keep in mind that its better to regret something you did than to regret something you didnt do !

*language trends in pop culture change and we use language in slightly differnet ways every year. One example I could think of is the recent celebrity pet names like jlo, tomcat and so on... It may be better today to have ***gifts, but you might see people prefer ***gift in the future.
