I had a question regarding the color scheme of my adsense ads.

Normally, I have the generic layout, as such....

but I had an idea, and want to know your opinions....

what if I disguissed it as such?

what do you guys think about this idea? It's kind of....sneaky. But the ads look "similar" but not exactly like the articles, as you can see on Top Marketing Network.

Thoughts?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

you should definetely go for the second.
Its not sneaky, it just fits your pages better: anyway is clearly stated that are Google ads. You should always change adwords palette colors accordingly to your web pages colors: this is why google gives you this feature !

It's perfectly fine to blend, and Google actually does recommend it. I personally found that I often got more clicks when I blended the colors, but set the ads off in a way that differentiated them from the content, but your mileage may vary.

However, I think that double row of ads at the top is a mistake. I would take one of those and stick them in the middle of your content, or remove one. Too many ads too close together are off putting, and you also run a big risk of having duplicated ads in those ad blocks.

Remember - if your ads don't get in the way of your content, you'll do better in the long run.

The articles on the main page are below the related articles. which looks awfull. The reason this is hapenning is because your adsense ads are too wide. Choose a diferent adsense format.

I use the standard blue text for my adsense,(google made it blue for a reason...its the best click color) and i make sure that its the only blue text on my site. I vary only the background color. Remember there will be alot of viewers to a website that will instantly look at it and want to leave, if your adsense looks diffrent then the rest of your site you have a chance at getting them to click, if it blends in real well you have no chance because they know they dont want to look around your site but there willing to look at another site.

You may have a valid point there. I personally prefer to blend with the site's colours as it looks more professional IMO. But hey, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I tell you what, if you look at some of the AdSense Success stories that they post in their blog, some of the most successful sites they have are what I consider to be some of the butt-ugliest sites going. But they apparently work.

You can't do it as easily on WhyPark, but I like to test colors and layouts constantly, to see what works. For example, on my fireworks site, which is (logically) a red white and blue themed site, I used PHP to randomly serve blue, green and red ads. What did I find out? Much to my surprise, the red ads outperformed the blue almost two to one, and *nobody* liked green.

On other sites, I've used blue links that I thought didn't match with ANYTHING, because yea - people are accustomed to thinking blue text with lines under it = links. My own SO gets mad if I try to put any other kind of link on his site, even if it doesn't match, because he wants BLUE links with UNDERLINES and that's it. And darned if they don't work.

also feel free to test out different combinations for a little bit. in general, ads that fit the look and feel of the website do better.
