I have an add-on domain which I am using as a niche store. One of the store's pages shows up on Google Page #1 in the search results for a certain term, but the indexed url is for the main account domain, rather than the add-on domain.

Anyone else have this happen, and know a way to fix the issue so that the right domain is indexed? I don't actually want a ton of traffic to the main domain.

Thanks,

i've never had this problem, primarily because i always gave out the addon domain as the domain (so bot crawlers went to that url).

i dont know of any way to fix it right away, but i think if you set your htaccess to redirect the subfolder you have for that site to your domain as well as set your robots.txt to not index the site's subfolder (by putting it in the main domains root), you shouldn't have that problem

Thanks --- I will see if I can do that.

If you are in doubt about how your site looks like from differnt place, check it with few proxy sites.

How have you added the domain?

This sounds more like a parked domain than an addon domain?

I think that you need to understand that addon domain name or parked doamin name - that is doesn't nmetter and your main domain name on the web hosting account are different domain names and they have own ways of getting indexed and do not depend on each other.

the way i understood it, is you got 2 domains pointing in one content? put 301 redirect on the indexed url to point to the domain you want indexed.

Just wondering, if we could use cart solutions like oscommerce on addon domains? or only the main domain? :)

An update: I went away this weekend, and came back, and the add-on domain was correctly indexed in Google, instead of the main host account domain.. I'm guessing that this was an issue with my hosting company, rather than Google. I did nothing to fix the problem, it just seemed to fix itself.

It's good that everything has been solved by itself.
