I would guess that it is like the majority of cctld's, long forgotten.

Since it is the extension of Ascension Island with a population of 7600 and 1100 internet users...I would keep well away from it unless you can find a domain that fits perfectly.

I would personally keep well away from this, fees run to $200 per year which is going to eat everything that you could get.

I could see it being used as a domain for academic purposes (e.g. research, thinktanks). The UK offers .ac.uk third-level domains to educational institutions with a similar purpose to .edu in the United States.

.ac domains cost $99/yr at Name.com, pretty steep! I currently have limited interest in the TLD as an investment and just to put it out there, potential buyers should know that this comes with all the caveats of any "micro" ccTLD.

True...they are higher than most any other domain regs.

You would think that there would have been some type of activity but I have found basically nothing on the domain extension in the aftermarket...

thanks for the input sparhawke

I did notice that few came up under academics as well such as pah.ac.

What type of micro cctld issues might apply to this extension?

Thanks

Was thinking that it could work for Atlantic City (New Jersey USA) and the gambling aspect of it.

Atlantic City (.AC)

.ac is a tough ccTLD.

I have owned 2 Premioum ones and sold only 1 so far.

Both were listed by Rick Latona at the Milan, Italy Show.

God.ac sold for only 600 Euros

Law.ac did not sell and I still own it.

Hard to get any more premium than that

I also thought of the Atlantic City connection and sent a few e-mails to some major law firms, but have not really spent quality time mining that field.

Seriously I think it is quite a stretch to brand .ac as Atlantic City.
Even .la for Los Angeles does not work.

.ac could be useful for universities if the extention wasn't so expensive. Until the price drops, I'd stay away from it. By the way, for an extremely remote island, 1/7 internet penetration is quite a high number. You gotta remember costs to get connected to the web on such a remote isolated isle must be sky high. Tristan Da Cunha for example, another remote island, only has satellite internet connection due to it being very far away from the closest landmass, as a result the prices for connecting to the web are too high for most residents. It's a problem many isolated islands face, although Pitcairn did quite well and most locals actually are connected to the web now.
