One of the tools I found missing in the domain space was a solid solution to manage domains across multiple parking companies. The features we wanted were:

- Ability to rotate traffic to test new services
- Consolidate reports from all parking services into a single easy to read report.
- Analyze performance to identify the best parking service for each domain
- Provide normalized stats to enable comparison of actual RPM values.
- Provide real time traffic stats.

All of that and more is now available at Above.com
There is currently no cost to use the service so feel free to try it out.
If you have any feedback and or suggestions they would be most appreciated.

GoDaddyGoDaddy
Standardised RPMs & Uniques

There has never been a standard way to measure RPM or CTR across different parking companies because every service has their own criteria for defining what a unique visitor is.

It could be one user from a unique IP per 24 hours, it could be one unique IP per 18 hour, etc. In addition to this there are various forms of filtering to try to remove "non-human" traffic and each have their own criteria for this as well. And it gets worse... Many services "choose" to simply ignore traffic from regions that they do not monetize or do not monetize well.

To illustrate the point, you may have thousands of unique chinese visitors on many domains, but depending on who you park with, the chinese traffic will never appear in any of your traffic reports.

Although I can only speculate on the reasons, my guess is that $100 RPM looks much better on paper than $1 RPM. With $100 RPM you feel like the domain is doing well, with $1 RPM you wonder if you could do better. The simplest way to turn $1 RPM into $100 RPM is to reduce the number of uniques you use in the equation.

Through Above.com, we have been tracking all traffic that hits our client's domains and compared this what is reported by the parking companies. The results are quite surprising as this one concrete example shows:

Traffic (hits, uniques, reported): 15768238 1579291 790719

Out of 15 million hits, 1.57M were identified as unique "human" users, but only 790K were reported as unique by the parking companies that received the traffic. This means that over 700K uniques simply vanished as if they never existed. This doubles the RPM, doubles the CTR and makes the performance (on paper at least) look twice as good as it really is.

Note: I am not saying there is anything improper going on here. It simply illustrates how much discrepancy there is when it comes to the reporting of "actual" traffic figures.

So, if you can't use the RPM to compare parking services, the only value you can use is the revenue. This however only makes sense if the traffic is constant (which it rarely is). Hence the dilemma.

When you track statistics internally, you can apply the same "unique user" definition across all parking companies. You not only see the actual traffic that each domain has, but can make direct comparisons based on normalized RPM values.
You will be surprised at the difference this makes.

It is supposed to be like a rotator, you enter your parking company info for 2 or more services listed and then you would point all your domains there and the system would rotate your traffic until it found out which parking company does the best for each domain, in other words instead of manually moving your domains around to find out where they each achieve the best income you just let their system do it for you without having to keep moving domains around, I am developing some of my domains but for the ones that I can't develop and that need to be parked just seemed like an easy way to squeeze the most $ per domain without having to do manual testing, I will give them a shot soon, let me know if you notice any improvement if you do give it a go.

Above.com - domain parking optimization

Hi. I found great parking company. They don't park themselves but they test each domain at various parking companies to determine one that earns most.

Yup, sorry, I didn't get it. I just heard some info refering them as great company. But that info was somewhat misleading. :(

Sorry.

But still it is great for those who have bigger portfolios and are approved with various companies as they got this service for free. Above.com got probably special deals with parking companies so you still got 100% of revenue without any extra work.

Just change your NS to ns1.above.com /ns2. ... and they do all the job.

Currently testing my portfolio with them.. seems decent so far. They appear to be a part of the Trellian network in Australia. (I sold 'em a name several years back - good folks as far as I know. :D)

I use it. The parking manager is a good tool for managing and organizing all your domain parking accounts. It combines them into one easy to read report. Works with most parking companies and is free to use.

I signed up a while back, but hesitated when I was asked to give all my parking company usernames and passwords. In hindsight, it isn't really that bad giving that information, as its not like I am giving my registrar information. Maybe I will give them a chance.

Asked them to add WhyPark to their list of supported Parking companies. Got a quick reply that said they could do it but the cost would be $250 or more per year to do so and asked if I was willing to pay. I guess when something apprears too good to be true... :td:

if any trellian rep is reading please PM re: some high traffic domains waiting to be verified\

update: all sorted thanks

Yep I am using them now for my portfolio across several parking cos - seems to work well - the stats and reports are useful, all in one place. Still important to optimise your keywords etc. with each of the individual parking companies though. At the moment the algorithm seems to favour sedo parking - not sure if this is totally justified by their performance. And I can't really see an increase in the bottom line. I will give another few weeks to allow their machine to fully crank up. What I am finding that when I sit back and look at my whole folio there is a small percentage of good traffic domains - and truth be told it is not so difficult to choose the best parker by simply rotating the DNS through them all. What's left is the long tail - and that was where I was hoping they would come good, because I think the idea is superb in principal. We'll see.

above.com redirects to wsearch.net

I just found that some of my domains which use above.com dns are redirecting to wsearch.net

A quick search on google uncovered I may have a DNS trojan 'DNSChanger' sending me to wsearch.net

BUT a whois of wsearch.net uncovers:

Domain Name: WSEARCH.NET

Registrant:
Above.com Domain Privacy
8 East concourse
Beaumaris
VIC
3193
AU
[email protected]
Tel. +61.395897946
Fax.

Anyone explain why there seems to be a connection between a trojan and above.com?

thanks

Above.com: why they need paypal?

Since 3 weeks I use above.com

Now I got this mail from them:

Thank you for your support of Above.com.

Please advise of the PayPal email address for your payments to be sent to.

You can do this by:

1. Emailing through your PayPal email address
or
2. Logging into your Above.com account and adding your PayPal email address via the 'Payment Details' tab in the 'Accounts' section.

Does it means they want to MANAGE all my parking revenues from all the parking companies????

no :S

they just want to send you money.. you give them your Paypal address and they can send the money to you. Otherwise how exactly are they going to know who they're sending it to?

My understanding is it's for referral payments and such. Otherwise you're paid as normal from your normal parking companies.
