About whois checking for .info

somtimes I have whoised .info domains and found out that they were available but when i try to register it says they have allready been taken, how come??? and the other day I found a .info i wanted to register and i checked whois, it said it belonged to some guy in denmark but at the expiration date it said 2006!!!

and if another registarar company has it shouldnt that info be displayed when i check whois? i just cant find out anything about the domain, and its not in use,,

please help

They have been clawed by the registry for using fake trademarks during the sunrise period.

If you are not using domaintools.com to check domains, you may be using places that are not reporting correctly. I don't know if they stopped it, but Network Solutions was "reserving" domains that people were checking. They did this so that if you checked a domain and then tried to register it at another registrar it would be "taken".

no I checked the status in the domaintools whois look up, and its says that its registered but expired in 2006. No Tm issues for the domain since its just a generic term. Its seem it has just disappeared from the face of the earth

and yeah ive heard about networksolutions regging domains when you do a whois there, think i heard the same thing about godaddy but im not sure

yes ive tried several registars, only registrars that i know wont "steal" it from me,,

as you sais this is weird, its like the domain is lost or something

Yes, that's true, tax.info and xxx.info etc... Afilias did. It's better than the one company take them all.

today i have found several "expired" .info domains that were available for registration, they expired last summer and have been in use before, no tm issues and they were never stopped by the registry,, they have been out there, but now they are gone!

of course many of the domains that are gone were registered by network solutions as registrar, but they cant just hold them can they??
and if they had them shouldnt I be able to register the domains with them???

help needed

the domain owners are just regular people, not companies or anything like that, and expiration dates for the domains were for the summer of 2007!!
so they expired almost a year ago but are still not available for registartion

I cant belive it would take that long for the whois records to be updated.

Well, you can tell us what one of them are so we can take a look ourselves, or you could try contacting them, since their information is listed...?
