Has it ever happened to you,

while checking domain availibiltiy on https://www.whois.com/whois/

a screen appears to show a domain owner info and

within a second screen appears "domain is available"

Not exactly, but often Whois shows older data and then refreshes with new.
I think it is because it loads the cache first while checking for changes.
