Maybee neusar are getting it right, eventually ?

I think it's about time that they built a site that told the SMBs of America what they need to know. If you're a business in the US then the .US doesn't have to be considered a second choice extension ..AND.. IF you play it right will actually give you great results.

There are great names available.

Unfortunately this site was found by a .US domainer and seems to target domainer logic :) It's a start I guess... but Neustar is probably focused on bidding for the backend to all those new gTLDs coming down the line.

They took their time doing something about it. The .us ccTLD really needs a brand champion like Bob Parsons to push it forward.

Perhaps someone who doesn't shoot elephants. It doesn't need a brand champion - it needs a marketing expert :) It's a perfect time - they can raise the rep of .US as gTLDs come - and if they get recognition get a piece of that pie too!

It's a win win for them - though the latter half I think is what they are targeting.

It's a mighty big pie coming this way :)

I think theres a "domainer" working at neustar now.

There is no better time for them to make a mark, lets be honest with all these new ext's coming out, .us/.usa would be 1 of the best to come out.

I think if they hold off just a little longer then the magic should start to work.

sometime after the first 4/5 extensions are live, then they should jump right in there.

Give it another 10 or 20 years and it will all be fine

Just to be clear.

The pie I was talking about was neustar getting all the backend management contracts like they did for .co.

.us sales is secondary income :)

So.

How is building a .us website promoting the .us TLD to those who know nothing about it? The general public is no more likely to find it than anyone else's developed .us sites.

If they really wanted to promote it, then let them advertise it on TV, or in the NY Times, or even at major sporting events where people can get a clue.

I remember when no one really knew what a .com was. It took it being featured on the news, the NY Times, and game shows like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" for it to catch on.

By the way, if I remember correctly, the question was - What does .com stand for? Two of the responses were company and commercial.

All in all, I think it is wishful thinking to believe that the .us will catch on anytime soon. Maybe it will later on; I hope so.

So after Al Gore invented the Internet nothing much was happening until .com was m featured on a tv show first shown in 1998?

The point to some is that neustar did something.
