I'm a noob, I know :(

Anyways, I've heard of what pool is, and I went to pool.com to signup, but they charge a $60 fee to signup?
Is there anyway to take a look at the auctions without signing up? Or, is there a way to make an account w/o the $60 fee?

Pool doesn't charge anything to signup (at least I don't think).

I think they perform an "authorization" for $60 when you signup just to protect the auction system and backorder system. That make sure that only seriously interested buyers access the system. It also makes sure that you have enough money to pay for a backorder using their system.

Their service is free unless they grab the domain you want. They only charge $60 if they grab the domain you want.

The only way to see a domain in a pool auction is if you have it already backordered. If more than one person has a domain backordered, it goes into an auction and the highest bidder gets the name.

Hi Feras
Maybe namewinner.com is a good choice for you.

so I dont get the $60 back? (so if I signup and dont backorder a domain with them, I lose $60?)

Also, I thought pool had some sort of auction system, where people bid on auctions?
Please provide more detail :)

the $60 is the minimum you will get charged upon successful acquisition of a backorder if there are no other bids past the first.

You don't get charged unless they secure the name for you. I'd recommend trying NameWinner...

I'll look at namewinner.
So, if I make an account at pool, they will NOT charge me unless I backorder a domain, correct?

no, you don't get charged to backorder--only if they are able to land it for you.

hmm, then why do they ask for a credit card when making an account?

in case they get the name--then you will be charged.

Lets face it, if its even a halfway decent name and Pool catches it, you can pretty much forget about it if you are on a budget. I have stopped using pool altogether.

what do you use instead?

I use my head. There are lots of good names that drop everyday that nobody backorders.

The 60.00+ is getting a little expensive, I was thinking for trying club drop again for a little while

Really? NW makes you waste your time and work to bid for names they haven't even caught.

And after wasting your time to secure highest bid position on a hope, they can't even catch crap.

NW is out of the game, unless you are going for names even a mother wouldn't love and should have just been allowed to RIP.

Pool is strong....and expensive

Whois-search tells you which drop-catcher is catching what names.
