So I own this domain , top5songs.net , which get searched 20 million + times per month according to Google adwords keyword planner.

A user told me the domain name is worth nothing , because the keyword would need to be developed on the site, can someone explain this whole process?

Like I said, there are only 2,900 searches per month.

How can you say that?

Easily. Google concurs.

I think you might be either misunderstanding the stats or misusing the application.

Well I have the picture showing the results but i can't post them here.
Tried to pm you but didn't work either.

Search this on Google and open the fire R site :Google Adword KeyWordPlanner

Type:top 5 songs
over there and click on "get ideas" , you will see the volume graph which shows millions of searches per month

You can Search :Google Adword KeyWordPlanner

Type:top 5 songs
over there and you will see the volume graph which shows millions of searches per month

The graph doesn't tell you how many searches the phrase has.

You perform the search.

Click the Keyword Ideas tab.

Then you look at the 1st search term.

I've told you how to use the tool properly. Either ignore me and continue being wrong or listen and start getting right.

I understand, what does the graph show then?

Not the complet " top 5 songs" ? Seems like I was misguided by someone.

Evidently.

Just think about it logically, why would 240,000,000 people a year search for "top 5 songs?"

Would you know a website which gives better search results for a phrase or word?

2000ish searches per month seem to be too damn low, even I searched the phrase "top 5 songs" on Google like many times before.

Using GKWT (Google Keyword Tool) is your best option.

I'm seeing 2,900 exact Global as well. It's low because most people don't search for just 5 songs, it's too low. If you look at other results:

top 100 songs - 301,000
top 10 songs - 201,000
top 20 songs - 60,500
top songs - 110,000

Plus, people can see the top songs just by checking whatever application they're using, really no need to search. I just pop open Spotify and check the charts.

Thanks , suppose I own a domain name top100songs.com , would it be worth much?

Also how would the keywords relate to the domain name since , it's just a domain(no developed website)?

Not sure on the value, you would have to dig in the sales and try to find some comparables, just to get an idea of range.

top40songs.com did sell for $500 in 2011 and that gets 135,000 exact

Google keywords tool was admittedly confusing for me too.

When you search for something it comes up with a total number of all the keywords related to your keyword. That's the big number and the graph. If you hit the tab that says, "keyword ideas," you'll see "search terms" and your keyword. That number next to your keyword is the right number. Underneath are the most popular (relevant) keywords.

So "Top 5 Songs" has 2,900 hits/month. Still not bad IMO.
