hello every one
i know alot of people in domains hate Hyphens and say domains with Hyphens have no value
and i want to ask
but even the strong names with Hyphens have no value?
even the strong single words?

and also i noticed that domains with Hyphens have sales history you can check it in namebio.com

so what is your opinion in this issue?

all opinions are welcome..
thank you

They are very hard to sell and most companies will not touch them

The german (.DE) companies don't mind the hyphen, but unless you know the german market, I wouldn't bother

If you have a look at namebio and dnjournal, there are not a lot of hyphenated sales if you look at the total amount that are registered

If you're talking about hyphenating single words, I think there's a better question to be asked: where did you go to school?

Hi

single or one word names don't have hyphens, so to put one in, changes it to something else.

now on the other hand, some two and even three words names with hyphens, may have value from a traffic standpoint or/and as complimentary url for the non hyphenated versions.

ie:
for instance, a couple of months ago, i acquired a hyphenated name.
below are stats from last 30 days.

domestic-flights com 31 47 151.61% $ 0.02 $ 35.48 $ 1.10

imo...

Personally I would steer well clear unless the domain has category defining keywords eg inter-net or desk-top.

I think even then you would need to find the right end user to make it worthwhile. I would certainly not buy anything but a dot com even with the best keywords.

Best,
Paul

those are not words, those are letters separated by hyphens

I also receive type in on EMD with a hyphen (between words). Sold a few, can't complain but most non-EU folks hate them.

what i am asking here are these kind of separated words or letters or what ever they are... have any value in domains??
i see most of them are taken
if you search you will find for-ex as example is taken by one big forex company..

How does P-orn.com have value? I have sold dozens of keyword hyphen to domains to end users, for a long time aged hyphen keywords were great for seo. Things have changed slightly with G latest algo changes but any keyword hyphen .com is valuable, as long as their is search volume, advertisers, and high CPC.

You guys are giving horrible advice, desk-top has ZERO value to end users or from a dev perspective. Examples of hyphen domains worth acquiring and developing (Checks-Direct.com, Jelly-Beans.com, Auto-Loan.com, etc.)

Fair point bgmv. I used these as an example.

Maybe best to avoid hyphen altogether ? The best are taken and the rest are worthless ?

Paul

Not necessarily, german language domains do very well with hyphens. And if you know where to look there are plenty of places to pickup aged hyphens, they are dropped all the time.

I know bmgv. I bought one such domain at the start of my 'buying' process. Just dropped and it had computer and laptop in the name.

Will it sell ?

Never in a million years ;)

Focus on keyword search volume, advertisers, age, cpc, and the price point of the product/service/industry.

All big but it won't sell IMO. Without hyphen massive. With hyphen a killer.
