By the time I get done messing with my godaddy account i will be bald from pulling out all my hair!!:'( The latest problem is they are having trouble with name server changes right now. you go to change your name server on a domain and nothing happens. I called them up and they told me at first it takes 24 hours to propigate! (No kidding??? >:( ) The problem is not propigation the changes are taking much longer because godaddy says it has higher traffic than usual after the superBowl.

I dont have time for this crap! I am right in the middle of moving to a new host i need my name servers Changed!!:'(

Anytime I have changed my .com nameservers, they are usually updated nearly instanteously. The longest I have had to wait is 1 hour. When I have changed .cc domain nameservers, I have had to wait longer. (one time it was about 36 hours).

I recently changed mine for multiple domains and they changed within a few minutes. I believe Godaddy's services are pretty inconsistent sometimes...I've pushed a domain to another user, and it has taken several hours, when sometimes, it happens right away.

Look... Nameservers take up to 24 hours to prophagate... it's always been that way.

The person on the phone from GD said that when you change your nameserver, it goes into a queue. The domains at the begining of the queue clear first.

I am not sure how true this is or if the representative was just blowing my smoke...

That is exactly the mix up right there. I am not talking about propigation. I am talking about when you type in the new name servers and wait for a few minutes the names stay the same as the old. the new ones do not stay in the box? I know full well how long dns propigation takes i have been doing this for years. this is a seperate issue? Did i explain that good enough this time?

Have you made sure there are no spaces at the end of your nameserver. I have noticed when you copy and past, an extra space comes along for the ride and sometimes the NS will not change unless you delete this extra space.

One of my .com at godaddy I changed ns last week took 36 hrs to propagate. So it happens. Just be patient.

fonzie_007,

You seem to be the only one here that understands the issue. I appreciate that. Yes i have made sure. You cannot even unlock a domain right now at godaddy. I dont know what problem they are having. I should have not said the word propigation becuase it seems i mixed everyone up with that.

Let me check my CP there. One min.

I got the email saying the change has been made, but I do not see the change in my account. Is that the exact same problem you had? Did you get the email notification?

Yes, the exact same problem It will never change. I made changes hours ago and still have not seen any difference. I called them also but as usuall they are little help.

That is really interesting. Have you checked whois info? While this is a longshot, maybe the info has been changed but the GD control panel isn't registering it.

I just looked it is still showing my old name servers. I also flushed my Dns resolver cache from my server and pc. I still see my old host account. this is frustrating I moved to a new account because of Bandwidth issues. I needed this change to take effect very fast. this is the last straw i will be moving my important domains to a new registrar.

Have you used a proxy to look at your site? I have done this a few times and found the proxy updated faster than my ISP.

As a matter a fact I just did that. Still old account. There is no change to name servers at godaddy, that is the problem here. I thought about moving registrars months ago I should have done it then. My mistake.

It might not hurt calling them again and telling them this isn't a propagation issue. It is a control panel issue. This is the first time I have noticed this problem at GD (where CP did not update).

They wont change in the box until they have fully prophogated! They won't have the box set to a value which is currently untrue to that of which isnt the domains current status.

And dont re-enter and submint it again because it will most likely put your domain to the back of the queue again

dont kid yourself man, you dont think the delay isnt deliberate... ;)

Funny how sometimes when you change the NS, the old propagation goes immediately, resolving to the godaddy parking page and it then takes 24 hours for the new NS to take effect..... :-/ :-/ ?? :-/

Hmmm,

9 million domains X 24 (1 NS change a year) = 216 million page views X 5% click thru ppc = 11.8 million clicks X $0.50 a click = $5.9m

and thats based upon only 1 page view per domain in that 24 hour period... D-:

I am on the phone right now with them. I will update you all in a few minutes. As far as your comment I disagree. That is not how it works at all at Godaddy. the values do change when you make changes.

Update: they are now saying that they do have a control panel issue. They say they are addressing the issue. They have escalated the problem to the top because they said they were not aware of the problem. (yea I bet) Anyway if you are having the same trouble you are in the same boat I am. All we can do is wait for the problem to be fixed.
