GoDaddy New (Today) Login Changes Buggy

GoDaddy Continuous Inept Changes Diary

I had my login bookmarked, which usually took me to a secure page. That same login took me to http://www.godaddy.com, without the s after the http

And then, I got a pop up to login, instead of the usual way.

Just to be sure nothing funny was going on, I called and the person on the phone tried it out and said they didn't see that before either and it must be new today.

But, it's a little buggy with my RoboForm and sometimes that green login button isn't showing up.

So if somebody has some good GoDaddy connections, tell them to put it back and stop messing with what already works.

The login worked well for me using FireFox. The only problem for me was it doesn't remember my login details, so I have to type in the details each time. i know that's more secure, but it's still a PITA.

The new control panel sucks also. I wanted to unlock some domains from a preset profile. Previously you could just remove them from the profile. You can't do that anymore. You have to unlock the profile, unlock the domains and the re-lock the profile. I followed the directions from my Account Manager, and all I succeeded in doing was resetting all my domains in that profile. so now almost all my domains are now locked for another 60 days. I contact my account manager, and he washes his hands, and tells me I have to contact [email protected]. I've had 2 run-ins with them before. Neither went well.

"The new control panel sucks also."

Yeah, I was just in there trying to do some stuff. I hate it when companies try to upgrade something and it actually turns out to be a downgrade, which this is.

Not seeing it anymore, think they might have had some complaints.

think they might have had some complaints

When the redesign first arrived I used their "site suggestions" link to tell them they had made their already rubbish domain management even worse.

Their response?

Using the "site suggestions" link results in advice to convey my concerns to the suggestions team. Rage inducing.

Another thing about the new control panel. If you do a search. Click on one of the domains, and then click on back button of your browser, you don't get the previous listed domains searched, but you get a list of all your domains. You have to do the search again, and again, and again, until you've finished whatever you were doing with those domains. The developers are morons. They are using us a beta testers.

I used to think GoDaddy had the best Control Panel out there. I've changed my mind 180 degrees. It now sucks, big time.

It has been buggy for months. EVERYTIME (including TODAY) I have to reset my PW. The moment I log out and try to re-log in, I'm screwed. I even took it off of FF remembered PWs.

No. It's only fairly recently they've been playing around with their Control Panel (two weeks maybe). Before that they were busy screwing up the auctions. I don't consider the login or checkout to be part of their auctions or control panel suites. They are different modules, imho.

It's back and for the last 2 or 3 weeks**. And yesterday saw a new checkout screen and today new transfer screen that is all out of whack, so they made it worse. Straight inept.

**actually with that, can bookmark another login where it's not some popup.

haha, I just got this email from GoDaddy, can't believe it's real:

"When you visit GoDaddy on September 5, you'll see that the login button is now in the upper-right hand corner of the page. It's the first change we've made toward a simpler website. Once you're logged in, you'll also notice fast access to all areas of your account."

So they moved it from the upper left to the...................... upper right. Brilliant!!!!! Whoever thought of that should get a promotion.

There are still browser issues with Opera. Too many clicks as usual, for example to just change name servers.
When will they have a usable interface ?

I'm starting to think it's all on purpose: they want to WASTE your time so you stay longer on their website being exposed to the cross-selling

According to one website: User Interfaces:
Why is the login button always on the upper right corner and not the upper left corner?
Left-to-right language users's eyes scan the page from the top left, scan right and move down the center of the page, so the most important thing on the site is always placed in the top left. Usually, that's the "where are you" or home icon, followed by the key functions. Login is placed to the top-right because it's important enough to make the top row (and be in the initial eye scan). What follows in the center below the top is the title or header or hero message. That was the original reasoning. That's why copyright and legal stuff is all the way at the bottom, it ain't as important to be available in the initial scan.

So I guess the middle east is no longer godaddy's primary market?

What ticks me off is now when you search a domain they try to trick you into paying for privacy, and the apply customer profile button no longer supports 1-year registration by default, you have to manually change that too. Money Money Money

I just want to stay logged in more than 2 minutes. It's ridiculous! I must log into GoDaddy more than 10 times a day. And I'm even sitting at my computer! It is getting to the point where I am thinking of getting a script to make sure I stay logged in. Either that or GoDaddy, I will cut you! Gotta go now, probably to resign in again.

I have complained about this numerous times, but to no avail.

I think it should be an option, up to 30 minutes.

It IS annoying, but here's the bright side: you're not likely to forget your password.

B-)

Yea that is my biggest complaint.
I go to bid on an auction 30 seconds before the last 5 minutes only to find out I am not logged in anymore, and I had just logged in 15 minutes earlier.

Very frustrating. >:(
