a1.com dropped last night..

a1.com dropped last night on snap names...

Currently the bids are up to $5,853.00 with almost 3 days left.
My bid of $1000 wasn't nearly enough, the highest initial bid was: $5,100.00.

I think it was earthlink that dropped it. Probably someone who's gonna keep the name.

I still think I would take a Ferrari over a1.com for that price...

I will assure you that the Ferrari will depreciate much faster than the name will.

i would rather have A1.com than a ferrari. Because in a very short time A1 will buy you a new Ferarri and much more

Bubble mentality all over again. Sure you can, provided you have a couple of million promoting steak sauce on the web.

i think people were more encouraged to bid on this domain because it was a drop. I doubt the new owner could sell it for more than $200,000

..... or

The domain registrant cut a deal with his registrar (who happens to have a contract with Snapnames).

They agree to a split commission deal, the name drops, the registrar picks it up naturally before its even released, Snapnames sell it and everyone is happy. The previous registrant could even bid it up so that it goes past his 'reserve'.

The exposure of a top quality domain dropping is perhaps the single best way to sell a name to many motivated buyers.

...or the previous registrant could have forgotten to renew it...

ummmmm. :alien:

I still think it was a bargain. Go to any telephone directory and there are pages of 'A1' listings.

I don't think sauce even comes into the final equation.
