a1.com dropped last night..

a1.com dropped last night on snap names...

Currently the bids are up to $5,853.00 with almost 3 days left.
My bid of $1000 wasn't nearly enough, the highest initial bid was: $5,100.00.

I'd make some comment about my wanting this domain, but I have no such illusions...

A bit strange, a domain that was paid until 30 october 2005 comes up for sale 35 days after the official expiring date while there is normaly a 45 days deletion process and a 30 days RGP period!!! perhaps even stranger after a succsesfull renewal on the 8 of november ?? see my post

a1.com - Amazing or what? First letter, first number.

Shame that its a scam site thats got it. It didnt drop or get caught by snapnames, they just sell them on behalf of registrars. Rediculous scams.

I wish people wouldn't bid on them sites, so that we can have a fair game. But if people wish to be scammed... then let them.

and they are going to make a lot of money on this one!

I'm new to all of this ... are registrars technically allowed to sell names that expire as opposed to releasing them back to the public - or is this all done in violation of their agreement with ICANN or whoever?

Im sure that the companies are working within the law. It still doesnt make it right tho.

The names go straight into auctions. They are passed from the registrar to where they are auctioned. Rediculous.

Man, $15k is a friggen lot of money. But it will surely go beyond that. I'd say $35k for sure. Someone is going to be very happy tomorrow. How much do you guys think it's worth to begin with - mid or high $xx,xxx?
