If you hold the .us version of a parked or otherwise undeveloped domain (or it can be developed but not hugely successful) what percent of the value of the .com do you think the .us is worth?

75%
50%
33%
25%
20%
15%

I'm torn between 25% and 33%. I own a few good ones and would like to say 33% but I feel 25% is more realistic and if I were shopping for a name to develop it would only be a .com

Jew.us $29,500 Sedo 1/17/06

maybe it's sold again since January?

But you didn't vote nor answer the question?

but then the poll wouldn't let me vote either, perhaps the mods require they open a poll or maybe i didn't activate it correctly :)

my estimation is 10%-12% of the value of the same name in .com at the moment, But .us is rising fast.

You cannot calculate it like this. It's a complete different world for both TLDs in my opinion.

I agree, there is no way to put a firm percentage on it, because it varies tremendously.

It varies a lot from domain to domain, but if I had to put a value on it, I would say 10-20% of the .com, but that is completely dependent on the keywords. Right now it is probably closer to the 10%, but with the .us extention becoming more popular I think you could very easily see it reach that 20-25% range in the next 6 months-1 year.

All of those options to vote for are too low. For example, I own stars.us. I asked for appraisals on this forum and the highest I got was about 2K. The .com version is a high 5 figure domains at the very minimum. For premiere generics and 1 worders (and acronyms), the ratio has to be closer to 5%

easiest way to look at the ratio is looking at the LLL names

LLL.com sell for min 3k, LLL.us sell for min $50

so about 15%

anyone differing on my min values on .com and .us may turn up a different %

.us are increasing in value, only problem is .coms are still increasing in value aswell so i dont think .us will ever catch up to more than about 20%

I agree Tom....It totally depends on the keywords and the name itself...I agree aswell...across the board 10% would be a good accurate figure.

I agree with a lot of people here for a couple reasons. Firstly, I think it's hard to put it at an exact percentage simply because prices vary so much. They simply vary too much with some names doing quite well and others not as hot. For example, a good LLLL.us would barely get you reg. fee but a good LLLL.com would get you hundreds and perhaps thousands of dollars in some cases. There just isn't a demand for some .us names quite yet like there is for their .com counterpart.

I think you can, very generally, say that a .us domain is worth anywhere from 5%-15% of a .com right now, but that will vary. Some names might pull more, others less.

There are a few instances where the com is a % of the .us value (imageshack.us etc). With the acceptance of the US signature on some high end keywords (Music.us), I think we'll see more of this. Some potentials would be geographically distinguished locations (Boston.us), industry (Business.us) , products or service names, as well as government (FHA.us or HUD.us) and politically based names (Republicans.us). Any keywords where patriotism can be called on could do very well me thinks (Veterans.us or Bikers.us).

Look to .de or .co.uk on some names for examples too.

You completely got the calculations wrong. $50 compared to $3000 is approx. 1.5%, not 15%. Now that, is a HUGE difference.
