Many of you now own some amazing premium .tv names. Please help the TLD thrive for all of us who have made investments in these names by developing them, rather than just parking them. If you have any development ideas for how these can be turned into interesting destinations, please share. I'll try to share one too off the top of my head.

Wordpress
There are several video based wordpress themes that make it easy to develop a video site. ElegantThemes.com is a great place to pickup good inexpensive premium quality themes. The one I had in mind is something like eVid.
Demo url: eVid Theme | Just another WordPress weblog

There are also several good plugins to help automate the use of videos in your themes. The wordpress repository will let you search on keywords like "video" for both Themes and Plugins.

Was thinking this morning.

Even though there's a lot of dev help help on the namepros dev sections - it would be great if people could put together some useful web dev scripts. RSS aggregators, uploaders, and anything that people would love to share that really help the .TV niche... (for example I'm going to be looking for a library that will do some simple movie edits similar to the Mac photobooth effects).

If in 6 month ever keyword is a "parked" page TV will be back where it was 2 weeks ago. It would have been nice for VRSN and ENOM et al to really encourage development and look big picture but then normal users wouldn't have been able to get decent .TVs (I got a good one for my bro to do his marketing on)....

If anyone has idea on how to accomplish this I'd love to be encouraged to stay longer... 2 days ago I had lost all interested in NP and domaining. If I could create something I'd be quite happy.

Thank You for sharing Brujah.

I am ashamed to say my development skills are close to nil.
But I will subscribe to this thread and try picking up any tips everyone has,
as I definitely do have plans for a few of my .tv's.

This is a cool thread.
Thx.

Well if you look at my page here I created this page from scratch (HTML and CSS and some Javascript) but that is about it....I have the entire adobe suite...after effects, flash, dreamweaver.....etc etc...but without mysql, aspx, or php knowledge...how can my site 'Tech.tv' really be a success. I would love to have user uploads, not just links to other sites.

What do you think....does wordpress help with this?

Eric

.TV is at the crossroads ... for ".TV" domainers (or parkers) to make the conversion from speculative traders to developers is solid advice by the O.P. (along with forceful lobbying of both Verisign / Enom, etc. to get their act together!) for the future viability of the extension. :straight: :imho:
10 Long years.

Good Luck,

I am working on a Qoof Lite version for my .tv friends.

You would get a site like Shoponair - Online video shopping channel with some basic customizations and video management. You would get code that you can insert into wordpress or any other web site builder that accepts html/flash. If you are interested please PM me and I will send you details. Keep in mind that there will be a one time set-up fee and then a monthly hosting fee since we will be hosting and streaming the videos.

The development outlook isn't going to alter much in my view. The .tv domain has its niche, I don't think domainers trying to develop sites is really going to change anything.
