Hi all - I have just had a small offer of £100 for a .co.uk domain - sedo's cut is £70 D-: so I won't be selling for that !

I see on the sedo website the following:

.co.uk****/.fr/.es/.ca/.se/.pl - 10% of the sales price
[ minimum 100€ / 70£ / 100$ ]

My question is are there any other charges involved for selling a .co.uk or is it all covered by sedo's charge ?

Many Thanks :)

.US domains.US domains
Sedo's FAQ says "This fee includes a range of services including the final transfer of the domains via our escrow service."
Then: "Please note that commission fees for .co.uk domains are not inclusive of any related Nominet fees for domain transfers."

They're gonna take £70 and that doesn't even include the Nominet fee??? That's daylight robbery!

By the way, the Nominet fee is £30 + VAT. So you'll end up having to pay more than you'll get for the domain.

That was the same with me for a .sc name. I received a low ball offer of $160 and if i did sell, sedo would have taken $150 without transfer fees of 29 euros. I would have actually lost money!

Some sedo reps are clueless as when i said why do u charge $150, they said "because of the complex transfer process". What utter bull as it can be pushed in a matter of seconds for free

sedo and co.uk & .ca

Using Sedo to sell low cost co.uk or .ca is a no win situation for everyone except Sedo.

The Afternic Bazzar MIGHT be worth a try check it out. Afternic might work based on the assumption that someone buying a domain on Sedo buys domains on a regular basis so you'd assume they also check out Afternic.

Good luck and I'm in the same boat with some low value .ca's.

Thanks alot guys, I missed that bit above :) - I have one on going bid at sedo and also a pvt email offer going on too !

I don't plan on selling for less than £ 800 anyway so if it does sell for that it looks like I would have to pay the 10 % = £ 80 + £30 + VAT Nominet fee.

I could live with that :) Here's to hoping !! were only at £ 400 just now.........loooooong way to go yet :hehe:

I'm not going to say just now - Its a long way from my selling price at the moment so it may not end in a sale.

I will say that I reg'd this generic name which can only be used for the UK market in august 2004 for a project that I did'nt get off the ground.

Company A - reg'd the exact name in the .com version in Jan 2005 and has a website selling products for £400 to £500 each.

Company B - reg'd the exact .co.uk name but with a hyphen in June 2005 and is also running a website selling a product (boxed & called my exact name) for £ 400 each.

Don't these guys do any research before setting up a company - I would guess not ! :-/

I have just found out about company B today, I think they would probably be willing to pay the most BUT I have already given my word on a price to company A so I will give them first option to buy at £ 800.

If I don't get £ 800 then it will not be sold - The more they both advertise the more money I will make in PPC :hehe:

Did you follow all that C**p
