Hi there,

I currently have a portfolio of domains which i bought from a friend of mine but i paid cash and he did the "transfer" of details etc.

Now, i want to buy some domains from people i dont know. I have a paypal account and want to use it to buy domains.

Once i make contact with someone and agree to buy a domain name... how do we go from there?

Do i pay first?

Once the sale has gone through, how do i change the domain info to my details etc.

If someone could please perhaps explain me through a "sale" it would help me alot!

Thanks very much in advance! I just want to be sure before i venture out and maybe get scammed or something!

Any and all help will be appreciated!

To avoid being scammed, use an escrow service, if you are to transfer money first, a lot of times you will find yourself scammed.

Ok answering your queries accordingly.

- You donot pay first. Transfers are always based on trust. You should encourage the user to transfer the domain first, if you don't think he's reliable. Otherwise if he is, then you can pay him in advance.

- Once the transfer is complete. You can change the Info from your domain Info panel - Kinda like you find under Manage Domains tab on most popular domain Registrars. Mostly it gets changed by the buyer himself, or during a transfer. Otherwise you can always edit it on your own.

- You need to give your Username and Details such as Emal Address, Phone no. etc. if you are planning for a Free Push or any other kind of push. Just keep the Password to you. Tell the user the name of the registrar where your user account exists. Change of registrars requires Fee, that is upto the buyer/Seller to decide for who will pay for that. Otherwise if you are not changing a Registrar. A Free Push could be done. Valid Email Address should be given in all cases. As Practically all transaction details would be dealt via Mail.

Just a note: For all Internet Transactions, make sure you are aware of your Trader's Reputation before you make any Money Related Deals with him/her.
