You have three domains Detroit.TV and DetroitMI.TV and DetroitMichigan.TV.

If Detroit.TV is worth $100,000, how much is two alternatives worth? IYHO

hard to imagine it is worth that much, but I would say the MI is worth about 10-20, and the other is worth about 15-25.

Caveat that Detroit.tv is so hot that it could command that type of price then the lesser ones would be drug up in price by default.

Realistically Detroit,tv in my view would be about 20K, I would say DetroitMI.tv is worth about 3500., DetroitMichigan is worth 5000.

Caveat Caveat: This is reseller prices, not enduser.

DetroitMI and DetroitMichigan are probably worth low to mid $xxx each. Definitely not $3k-$5k. You actually think DetroitMichigan.tv would get $5k reseller price in this forum? yea right. If someone put DetroitMichigan up for 1k right now in here i bet noone would bid on it. They are nowhere near the quality of Detroit.tv and will not get much traffic at all. The .com might be able to get that kind of price. $20k for Detroit.tv would be closer to an enduser price than a reseller price.

Not here. No offense to anyone, but the best prices are just not here, not any forum for that matter. I was thinking more along the lines of an auction at Sedo or Afternic.

I would say $300 to $600 Local for the other two I should not have let you steal Philadelhia for $150 hahaha, but seriously I think that to an end user that wanted the name but would not put out $xx,xxx for Detroit he would maybe go $2000 for the other two variations you listed. An end user building out would not be looking at type in traffic just wanting to have the name for branding and search engine optimization.

Here is my take on everything.

This is how I gauge it. BakersfieldCa.com just sold for $13,333, bakersfield.com is probably worth 35-50k enduser. I would think detroitmi.com would be worth a whole lot more than bakersfieldca.com, maybe 25k enduser. Detroit.com would fetch a whole lot more maybe 200k. I think the detroit.tv sale was severely underpriced and the true value of Detroit.tv is somehwhere in the 12-17k range to an enduser. If you go by the exact same formula the city state abbreviations should be about 8-10 times less valuable. Since it is a .TV it does not carry the value as well as a .com, so I would take off about 15% value off of the name with the higher overture search score, and about 30% of the one with lower overture score. So if detroit.tv was worth 20k, detroitmichigan.tv should be worth $1700-$2125 to an end user. IMO it would go for about $400-700 reseller, detroitmi.tv should be worth $340-$595 reseller. But thats getting a little technical. LOL

You are waaay undervaluing www.bakersfield.com IMO which is owned by a major newspaper company. Even if John Doe owned bakerfield.com it would be worth 200K easy and that is a low estimate IMO. You're talking about an MSA or over 800K, close to the major market of Los Angeles.

And I'm not juts saying that because I own bakersfield.tv

You misquoted me. I did not value bakersfield.com at 25k. I valued bakersfield.com somwhere around 50k. This being because its not even close to the value of detroit.com. I think the bakersfieldca.com sale was overpriced because its the usual snapnames "I have the deeper pockets" purhcase. Maybe bakersfield.com is worth more than the 50k I cant say, but its usually about 8-10 times the value of a name like bakersfieldca.com, I just felt the $13,333 sale was worth more like $8k. Obviously developed by a major company as you say, it would be worth more. I am talking about the raw value of an undeveloped domain when I price them.

Well I just got Bethesda.tv for $300, so that makes BethesdaMD.TV and BethesdaMaryland.TV worth $30.

Bethesda == downtown Montgomery County MD, NIH, Bethesda Naval Hospital, and lots of big $$$. Next to Potomac, MD

78, you did drop the price.

When BoiseRealEstate.com can sell for $50,000 in August '04, it's a safe bet Bakersfield.com, 57th largest U.S. city, would be $500,000 min in today's market.

Well I stand corrected! Interesting then, if you think it should be $500,000.... what do you think bakersfieldcalifornia.com and bakersfieldca.com should have gone for? Since you are knowledgable, what about Localexperts original question how would you price those? I really am interested, if you think they are worth more who am I to argue, its better for me!

bakersfield is nothing. no way it would get 500k just for the name alone. only if there was a successful real estate business along with the name or something. even macau.com only sold for 500k. just because 1 person happened to pay 50k for boiserealestate.com doesnt mean it is worth that much and doesnt mean that a city name with a population larger than boise is automatically worth way more.
