Now let me say I am not recommending these as outright bargains but I think it an interesting discussion. Everyone knows that a country.tv was a min $500 to $100,000 premium at Verisign. Some would also say that using channel is redundant (some think so, some don't) So this strategy could be looked at as redundant or could be championed by others as a cost effective way to get the GEO they want.

COUNTRYtv.tv

Some may say you want Country.tv the countrytv.tv does not flow as well and that true. Some say the same for ******Channel.tv the channel is not needed because people think it a channel just with the *******.tv So different opinions on this type but for $20 might get you the GEO you want

Some Select AVAILABLE:
Germany
Brazil
Sweden
England
Norway
Poland
Russia

Taken
Asia
Europe
Canada
Australia
France
Italy
Spain
Japan
China

I regged one could not believe it available USATV.tv

Some will like this way others will not, there is no wrong answer go for what you like. IF you reg please post here Thank you

Wow, EQ. excellent post. i knew the xxxxxxxtv.tv concepts and issues, but it is not bad for GEO

1. MOST IMPORTANT: Premium GEO holders, go reg the premiumtv.tv asap as a defensive measure. I just did that with my best GEOs and was able to get a lot but not all of them.

2. For now, I am holding off on regging ones where I know someone here has the premium - guys go do #1

3. I took Germanytv.tv since germany.tv is still unregged

4. congrats on USATV.TV! superb reg fee name

Nice post Ray, thanks :)
I regged chinatv.tv and japantv.tv some time ago and think this is a good and cheap geo solution, especially for reselling as the reg fee is low.

Great post EQ:) The principle can apply to all major keywords as well. Just regged SportsTV.tv

Enom has NewsTV.tv as a premium.

LOL - I just checked that!

Mexicotv.tv is available as well

Other keywords I checked are avail;
Actiontv
Huntingtv
Pokertv - I decided to reg this one.
Bettv
Celebstv
Gamestv

I would say a great number of great ones are still available in this format. I was surprised at how many WERE taken though... Might be onto something.

except for the absolute top 1% of top keywords (e.g. poker), I would take it slow on these, except as defensive regs.

the loss of traffic from keywordtv.tv to keyword.tv is going to be ridiculous and therefore hard to build a business on it

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how the public types in tv names. This is a main reason I have been collecting "Keyword"TV.com's. Never really liked the redundancy of tv.tv, but thought poker was worth a gamble :D

For defensive I wouldnt even bother going this far, unless one wanted to develop a site and had no other alternative to tv.tv...

So of the all the ones I have seen on this board, I would go with SKG's SPORTSTV.TV and Westblocks' POKERTV.TV, but these are based on nothing more than personal preferences that are sites that I would want to develop myself at some stage....

Otherwise, what happens once all these are taken, do we move another rung down and start regging MYSPORTSTV.TV....there is no end game in sight with this strategy - unless you really like the name and want to develop it, hard to see the resale value in these at all......

I actually regged TRIALTV.TV six months back and have not had one hit on its parked page.....a sign of the lack of potential the tv.tv has....but I guess we are so early on in the .TV lifecycle - things could change....

i agree completely that these are not the place to launch a business., but
if i were you I would get the defensive reg on, say, Thailand.tv. for an extra $25 on much more expensive than that reg, it takes away a potential route around you away from, say, the local Thai television channel you might someday try to get to spend XX,XXX with you

Unbelievable! TurkeyTV.TV - already gone!

Equity78,

Thanks very much for sharing your thoughts about country names... Unfortunately I was a little late to read your thread!!! I guess we should check namepros.com every single minute...... As soon as I read this thread (10 min. ago), I checked TurkeyTV.TV as I was seriously planning to reg. it (missed Turkey.TV some time ago), but guess what, it was registered by someone else in the US, TODAY! Most probably someone who read your thread reg'ed many country names including TurkeyTV.......

Thanks anyway. I should check this forum more often! My fault....
Congratulations on USATV.TV - great name!

Well thank you guys and Thanks SKG for the pm, I am glad some people got Benefit out of it. ANd no Millers you are right it does not keep going down they are worthless I agree and no disrespect I would not expect the one you regged to get any traffic I doubt just the keyword you regged .tv gets traffic it certainly is not a high premium word Like Sports or POKER.

This strategy is for getting a high valued premium like Sports which SKG would not be able to get or Poker like Westblock would never get. USA and Germany too high priced Geos that I am sure Antonis is cool with having got for $20 I was not spending the $100,000 for USA.tv. The second way is defensive as Antonis mentioned (excellent add to the post Antonis) and if you are going to say keywordtv.com works as it does then as .tv grows keywordtv.tv can work for EXCEPTIONAL DOMAINS. Another thing there will be end users that will find that Sports.tv is out of their budget and SKG moves in with Sportstv.tv. I have also noticed in other places especially Europe a lot of domains have the redundant keywordtv.tv especially Germany you have a great one there ANTONIS and you lose no traffic like USA loses none because neither are regged.

For people reading who are new to .tv this strategy is not recommended for second tier words or made up or brandable words. If you can get a major country or a word like Sports or Business IMO it worth $20 and do not reg a bunch of them. Reg wisely research go after your best one or two no more than $40 at ENOM.tv

Ty Smyrna and sorry you did not get it someone must have just regged your domain because it was available earlier

Yes Smyrna,

it was me (I have turkey.tv too) . :)

As soon as I saw EQ's thread, I said, oh shoot, he is right, I should have regged that too and said, it won't be long before someone goes and looks at all the major countries!

So, we had to take that too!

Anyway, I think this has to be at least 3 DDUs for EQ (Domainer Drink Units) for this thread

Maybe I'm missing something and as you all know I wish you and all of us the best of luck with the .tv extension, but IMO (and I hope I am wrong) this is not a bandwagon worth jumping on. Even if you develop pokertv.tv, I think you will just bring more traffic to poker.tv.

ST,

I was thinking like you.....in fact check my posts earier on in this thread..............but, definately Antoniss advice is correct - as a defensive reg to a quality name, particulaly premium priced domains.an extra 20/40 dollars to tie down the hatch makes business sense.....

I have Thailand.TV, a premium reg, and Antonis had actually advised me to reg the TV.TV....i did not do this until I saw a site recently that KnarfMusik posted, - called THAITV.TV......., so it is going to happen this TV.TV.....also in KNarfs' post there are at least sixteen TV.TV working sites.........

I am seeing a pattern emerge with geos & TV stations more willing to deveop a TV.TV than other verticals...so these would be worth concentrating on initially......
