DEVEL0P.com and others

Hi,
I just purchased the following names from a couple of auctions on eBay:

DEVEL0P.com
DEVEL0P.net
N0TE.net
N0TICE.net
PR0DUCT.net
R0AD.net
SH0RT.net
ST0RY.net
V0ICE.net
W0NDER.net

And yes, they are the number 0s, not Os, unfortunately ;)
I'm planning on keeping the top two to develop, and maybe keep SH0RT.net as well, to do the same.
Would you mind letting me know your appraisal for either each domain, or the whole lot as a package?
Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Were they all off that guy that completely spams up the domain listing pages with these rubbish domains that subtitute 0 for O, 4 for A and 5 for S?
I really hate him/her :)

In my opinion, the best one is v0ice. It sounds like a low-calorie vodka drink. V zero ICE.
I can't imagine the domains themselves being worth much because of the letters substituted by numbers...

I think G0LD.NET sold for about $260 or so on eBay.

When your names sell, post the selling prices on here. It'll be interesting to see :)

Well, I managed to get all ten for just under $10 for the lot, so I'm hoping I'll be able to make some profit ;)
Thanks for the replies. Rep added.

Very low value. Probably $1 for each. Good Luck

They look like legit but the value is low, low xx to an end user. Regards

Oh well, I was hoping for a little more than $1 each ;)
Thanks for the honest appraisals though. Rep added.

I'm going to keep sh0rt.net and try developing one of those URL shortening websites. I'm designing a layout for it at the moment. I may also keep devel0p.com and .net and might try a web development forum on there. I've also got an idea for n0te.net, but I'm not sure how that will pan out.
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for the others?
Thanks again.

Well, I've finished sh0rt.net now, you can view the new site here:

http://www.sh0rt.net/

Please be sure to try it out ;)
Does anyone have any other ideas on values/development of the names?
Thanks again.

If they were .com's the value would be higher.

v0ice.com would be cool.

Value? reg fee to 50$.

Developed they have a ceiling too simply due to the difficulty the end users may have with typing it and remembering it. Still has good value developed.

If you got them cheap you can probably break even if they bust.

Thanks Jay, rep added.
I'm planning on developing a couple more, most likely into either forums or small websites.

I am not a fan of substituting letters with digits. It does look more fun than professional. However, that kind of tweak could be acceptable for warez/underground sites (hacker parlance). But I assume it's not exactly your niche ;)
Obviously you won't get a lot of type-in traffic. Also, you will need to offset the relative poor quality of the names with a more intense branding effort. It does not means the names cannot be developed and be successful, just that you start at a serious disadvantage. One digit - or character is enough to kill a name.
As Jay says .com would have been worth a little bit more.
IMO value is between reg fee and mid-$$.
Good luck :)

I may attempt selling a few of these before they expire, and let a couple more drop. However I will be keeping a couple (namely devel0p.com, sh0rt.net and maybe one or two more) for development.
I really appreciate your comments.
Thanks again.

Just out of interest, when does v0ice expire?

I've had a look at sh0rt- and it looks good.
I only sh0rtened one URL (http://sh0rt.net/9) to see it work, and I didn't want to spam up your database.
Did you do the code yourself?

v0ice.net expires in November, as do the others.
Thanks for the comments on sh0rt.net, Sid. I'm really glad you like it :)
Don't worry about shortening more than one URL on it. The more the merrier.
And yes, I coded the whole thing myself :)

Good work on the coding then. I started a similar project, but got frustrated and installed phpFaber TinyLink instead for my similar site (sid.to)

Oops, thought it was a .com.
Still, come November if you don't plan on renewing it- PM me, I may be interested.
