8 letter .tv domain name with an "s"

I would like your input on this.

I want to register an 8 letter .tv which has a Google of 1,980,000,000. It is a premium .tv name, which registers for $500. This domain name has an "s" at the end.

The name is very much related to the television field, and i think fits very nicely with the .tv extension.

The domain name is also available without the "s" at the end of the name, but is $7,500 per year, as a .tv premium name (7 letters). This version has a Google of 2,590,000,000 , and an Overture of 59,588.

Would you gamble, and register the $500 version. Of course, I could never afford to register the $7,500 version!!

Your thoughts, and ideas please!!

Frank

don't get too caught up on the number of letters ...

id rather have ~
automobiles.xxx over autos.xxx
realestate.xxx over realty.xxx
search.xxx over seek.xxx
homes.xxx over home.xxx
books.xxx over book.xxx etc.

and the overture tool doesn't seperate singular and plural so the plural results are part of that figure

Well, using the info you provided, I've narrowed down what the name is. I think it could work, but may not be worth the $500 premium unless you plan on developing. PM me with your ideas for development if you want my opinion. As far as just a resell value on the name, it's going to be tough since the new owner would have to pay you whatever you were asking (at least $500) AND another $500 to transfer, and I just don't see that name being worth that much, now. I would use save your $500, buy a copy of Domain Research Tool, and use the money you saved to backorder some nicer names.

In my opinion, unless you have grand development ideas, investing 500$ for a name
may be not a good idea. And more over it is every year, thats very bad.

If you can not develop it and promote it in one year or sell it in one year, you may have to pay another 500$. It may take still more than year for the .tv to come into maistream.

Just one note about OVT: OVT shows that the name has been searched for so many times in the given month. Now for your site to be on the first page of results you need two things minimum. a. You have to have a developed site b. Good SEO to reach the first page.

Now, If there are no development ideas, OVT helps very little.

My opinions,

Hi,

My thought about it is go for the 500$ per month domain name. Coz even your end user might prefer to buy this from you for approx $15000 than buy the premier one of $7500/year
