60k Organic Unique's Per Month - Difficulty monetizing

I have a web site based around irish sayings, I am having difficulty monetizing it. I have google adsense running but there is a large area on the right hand side I wish to sell banner space on.

Can anyone advise on how to approach this?

You can offer your banner space for sale on BuySellAds.com or if you have a good number of pageviews per month go with Taboola or some similar site. Native ads are the future, banners are the past

Depends upon a ton of things. Might be a niche difficult to monetize, like that one. No commerce or business related to it. It is also not unique content - you and thousands of others have the same. Can also be lack of setting it up well to be efficient, but I'm guessing that the site content has a lot to do with not seeing a lot of return with context based advertising.

I respect your opinion but must emphasise that I am currently ranking higher than any of my competitors in traffic and most of the content is unique as its been submitted by individuals rathers than trawled of the web, but I get your point - it is probably too niche. Good thoughts on the context based advertising.

You can be the #1 ranked site for "top rated 8 track tapes" and get 100,000 unique visitors a month. Still doesn't mean you'll monetize well. Your problem of not having unique content and it being generic is even more troubling. Your best bet is to figure out location of most of your visitors and try to sell a banner to a local business or an Irish company who might value the eyeballs.
