I took a look at the auction list prior to the TRAFFIC Live Auction and checked to see if some .co.in/.in names were available, so here's a list of names registered and the corresponding result of the domain in the TRAFFIC auction.

I think for now, the US speculative market for .in is stronger, but in India, .co.in is used quite a bit. Either way, these names should be pretty good in the future

Bang on! However recently a lot of companies have shifted to .in (infact some of the largest ones)

www.airtel.in (India's largest telecommunications company; www.airtelworld.com is the .com domain)
www.hcl.in (India's third largest IT company; www.hcltech.com and hclinsys.com are the .com domains)

Both of these use the official url and email domain on the .in ccTLD!
Recently there was a "proud to be an Indian" for .in domains
