I recently visited Fifth Third Bank for a business transaction and, in my conversation with a customer service agent noticed they own and use 53.com, which obviously makes sense given the name of the institution.
I wonder if they purchased this name from a private owner. Checking Archive.org I see the name was parked on 1998 and the bank apparently started using it on 1999. If this is the case, and it was purchased by the bank, I would be interested in learning how much they paid for it. I guess not much, since it was in 1999.
I would like to hear if any of you have information on how the bank acquired the domain.
