Hi,

Bought a bunch of .PT domains - amy, matt, american, canadian, strength, weights etc.

Figured .PT for a personal trainer (OR physical therapist [both hugely popular professions]), would be valuable.

Promoting via unforgettable_pt (and Twitter), and selling on SEDO.

SEDO estimated value at

25% of portfolio 1000 GBP
25% of portfolio 2000 GBP
25% of portfolio 2000 - 5000 GBP
20% of portfolio 5000 - 10000 GBP
5% of portfolio 10000> GBP

Priced every domain at a 'Buy it now' @ 995 GBP this morning.

Sensible, stupid... on the pricing?
Bad idea and the domains are worth nothing?
Honest opinions appreciated.

Thanks,
Lee

IMHO this venture is a long shot, since .pt isn't exactly well used in the personal trainer or physical therapy business (at least to the best of my knowledge), but I wish you the best. I guess you never know how things might evolve over the next few years.

I do like your website.

Thanks for feedback.

I've been leasing over 80 .pt domains to PT's @ $25 p/month for the last year... so no sympathy required. I'm up. Just about.

Also made a bit selling p90x and insanity to Beachbody.

More thoughts welcome.

Otherwise, I'll let you know how the fire sale goes.

Thanks again

Well, if you know the Portuguese market and are ahead, then good.

Im Portuguese and the .PT are not a new TLD lol and are only valuable if are meaningful portuguese words or expressions as well as some generic english words otherwise I don't see any value in selling these to personal trainers. Please keep in mind that .pt even though portugal is a small country with roughly 10M people we also have a lot of brazilians visitors to domains as well as Angola. Mozambique and all other portuguese speaking countries

Another word of advice. We are not named Matt and Amy and such. Find common portuguese names and register those. But im afraid most of them are already snatched and beware about country extensions as you might have to prove that you have any sort of business or are in someway related to that country.

Sounds like you have been able to promote and sell/lease these domains fairly well. So, for most buy and hold domainers, this would have ended terribly, for someone that is excited about it like you are and actively promoted and sold people on the idea it seemed to work out. I admire your hustle in convincing people to use a country code domain as a vanity url.

Overall though, I am sensing that you are starting to find that your time and energy investment didn't net out to the dollar value you hoped for, so maybe you hustle a little more and get out from under most of these and move on to your next big idea. No shame in turning a low percentage chance into something that not only didn't flop but ended up in the black.

If your "worst" ideas in other people's eyes still net more than the average domainer does, your "good" ones are bound to be fantastic. Good luck.
