Hi,

I recently got an offer of $200 for a name countered higher and got a "final offer" of $500.
It gives me a nice profit, but the name could be worth more I think.

What would you do?

Domain is: Pleasure<>Boat <dot> com (12 years old).

Thanks for any opinions and evaluations :)

If you want the money, take it. *shrug*

If you want to hold it and hold out for more, don't. No one here will be able to tell you what to do with your own inventory. You risk losing the offers by saying "No thanks". Then again, despite the "Final offer" you can always go "Sorry, I wont sell this below $700" and potentially get it anyhow.

Your domain, your risk, your choice overall.

This is a pure brandable. The type that an end user is going to approach a domainer for and not the other way around. So he probably really wants it.

You could probably get more for it from another end user, but who knows when.

I would accept the $500 offer.

I personally think I would pass unless I really needed the money at the time ..

Good luck with whatever you decide :)

There are a bunch of end users for that domain. I would not accept anything below low $X,XXX+, but it also depends how bad you need the cash.

I agree, I would hold out for more ... atleast $1000, but that's just me. This can be used for a personal vanity boat name or one of those booze cruise type charter lines.

Personally, I feel this is a great name! I would have counter offered at least $3000 - $5000.

If I was in your shoes, I would hope the buyer cancels all negotiations.

If he does, sit on the name, it is a great name.

Goodluck

You can always contact other potential end-users and maybe get a better offer. If you don't get much interest, accept $500.

Thank for all the feedback (rep added :))

Is anyone here from US who would try and call one good potential enduser (pleasureboatmarine /dot/ com) for a commission if name sells for 1k+?

is it:
Pleasure<>Boat <dot> com
or

Although the more common term is 'pleasure craft', pleasure boat is still a common term for a general category of boat types, as well as being an attractive brandable; there are even a few companies with those two words in their title. To find possible end users all you need to do is google the term.
If you really need the cash, 500 isn't a bad offer at all. If you can afford to wait, wait. Another possibility is telling this buyer that, if they make you a $500 offer through Sedo in about a week, you will email other possible end users that it is on auction. Then the 7-day process will show if the others are interested enough to bid higher, and if not this buyer can win the name at that price. It's a very good name, if I had a minisite for it I expect that one would make in the range of minimum $50 per month in adsense at least and I wouldn't sell it for less than 1K, if that means anything to you.

OP has pleasure>boat>>com, and was giving example of pleasure>boat>marine>>com as a possible end user for someone to phone :)

I agree with some people who have said unless you need the money keep it and try to get more.
