All the obvious good names were taken quickly, so a slow down is natural.
The important thing now is development of sites with good content.

Looking back, it seems things are slowing down. Perhaps fewer domainers are registering names now and more endusers... Time will tell.

can't believe we're on 500k, it's great
.eu though regged stacks more & they are being dropped like bitches now.
the renewals will say a lot for mobi, amongst other things

It was always going to happen with .eu IMHO - MTLD have rolled out .mobi far more intelligently.

mobi will be the same...don't be convinced of anything else...when those renewal fees start to come and in a single 60 day period a person registered 200 domains and realize that 150 of them are crap...trust me..they will be dropped en masse. Intelligent rollout by mobi or not...a good registration is a good registration and has zero to do with a 'rollout'. crapname.mobi isn't any better than crapname.eu... 500k names registered so quickly imho just means a higher percentage of drops will be coming. Buying crap domains is like buying crap stock on margin...as the stock falls you have to keep forking up money to hold the stock. It's just not worth it. Drops will be coming and I can't wait to see those numbers when they start to come. I will be sure to quote some of the historical remarks people have made.

Great job domainers...500k mobi's and still counting. Congrats to mTLD on the successful siphoning of capital in the domaining world.

I agree, there are tons of .mobi domains that are just plain crap and will be dropped once renewal time eventually comes around.

I'd be willing to bet that there are already, a greater percentage of .mobis developed than there are .eu's

Secondry market for .eu's = non existant
Secondry market for .mobi = doing very nicely

Traffic for .eu = non existant
Traffic for .mobi = since middle of April, for me, fan-bloody-tastic

Labrocca, as a relative latecomer to .mobi (I didn't reg anything until I saw the first decent secondary sales come in) I have never been too vocal when it came to passing my opinion in relation to any of your flaming posts.

However, the time has now come.

I can speak from experience; I have some stats - you probably don't, so you're mouthing-off blindly....sooner or later you will have to admit you didn't back a winner.

Maybe you're just a wind-up merchant....or a bad loser....only thing for sure is - you're not as clever as you think.

The good .mobis are a 2 year registration, recent ones are only a 1 year.
So if you want a good one, you'll have to buy on the reseller market to get it.

The .eus are a different story...

Nice assessment but would you care to share what you consider fan-bloody-tastic traffic? For all we know mTLD is deploying bots to create the sense of mobi traffic. It's kind of odd that all at once every mobi registrant is getting boost in traffic. With 500k domains it would be incredibly easy to create a few bots on a network to visit each site daily to have the appearance of traffic. And if fan-bloody-tasti is 10 uniques per day that's not enough to feed my cat.

Sure the ecosystem of mobi is growing and that's a good thing for mobi but I don't see how 500k sites can be sustained and profitable. It's a small handful that get resold and with at least 25% of the good domains held by mTLD themselves I don't see why there will be 500k renewals in 18 months.

Anyone have any idea why someone would do this? I'm guessing its the same person for all the hits.

Something is amiss (there are several threads on this very topic (see post above)), IMHO. I'm just hoping that there is nothing nefarious going on (.MOBI "traffic" hype, artificial .MOBI "hits", and at its worst, click fraud), IMHO. :|
Caveat: I am talking in a larger sense ... and not accusing anyone, individually, of any of these things! It just seems like something is suddenly off here, in my view. :gl:

"Bot traffic" is something that must be, at least, objectively considered ... if one wants to seriously look at the .MOBI extension and its recent in-depth traffic analysis, reasoning IMHO. :gl:
Please PM me for the thread link in which I posted the above quote, if interested.
Thanks for understanding.

I have been getting an increase in smartbot traffic too. Man, I love how they click on my ads and gradually click more and more over time.

I highly doubt it has much to do with genuine traffic. I'm more incline to side with Labrocca here. I have 358 .mobis myself which are not parked -- there is no spike in traffic that I haven't artificially created myself by advertising them. If I leave the names I've advertised aside, I have an absolute 0 spike in traffic on 358 names... It may have something to do with Namedrive/Sedo -- as I said earlier, my names aren't parked.
