Hi,

I think there is no 4 numbers .coms available anymore unless it is a drop. Am I right?

Considering this, what would be the price of one of those in the aftermarket?

Im not talking about very special 4 numbers (ie 1914, 2000, and such) but about an ordinary four digits .com domain.

Thanks!

Base price is around $75, and they just go up from there. For special numbers such as recent or upcoming years, you're talking into x,xxx on up. For nice "pattern" numbers with repeats, etc. you're looking into the mid xxx range on up. Remeber: price is a reflection of relative scarcity.

I look for 5 number domains to be hard to register over the next few years.

And in my eyes they're still completely pointless. Nobody will ever revisit them, they cant remember the number the next day. Or they'll try entering a random one, but since they're all taken, they could end up anywhere.

I know when you can usually just spam NP for NP$ what is the point, in regging NNNN.com you should maybe do some home work beofre you make your posts. IMO

I've read that thread before, and still stand by what I said. They're pointless, hard to remember, get no type in traffic unless they're major dates, unbrandable...it's just a pathetic fad encouraged by registrars for us to waste money...

I agree that there isnt any point in them. Their worth is only in how rare they are .... no?

Ive never actually visited a 4 number domain! Ever!

Registrars do not encourage the registration of NNNN.coms so that point is wrong and guess what they are not pointless in China that tiny country of 1.2Billion people who use number domains more quite often Numbers don't have as much meaning in Western Europe and North america but they are used In other parts of the world Mostly Asia. NNNN.com does not need any more supporters anyway they are all regged and have many in line to pick up the drops.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)

Personally, I own hundreds of NNNN.com domains and I can tell you that not only do the majority of them receive consistent type-in traffic, but the whole lot more than pays for itself each year through PPC revenue. There was a time when most people thought these were "pointless" domains. A year or two ago you could acquire them for reg fee. In today's marketplace, that is no longer the case. Look at this sampling of recent NNNN.com sales at dropcatchers:

Code:
[b][u]Domain Auction Close	Dropcatcher	Closing Price[/b][/u]
5637.com	09/24/05	Club Drop	$80
3023.com	09/20/05	Club Drop	$160
5475.com	09/15/05	SnapNames	$160
5694.com	09/12/05	SnapNames	$104
6569.com	09/10/05	SnapNames	$122
6055.com	09/03/05	Pool $100
8780.com	09/02/05	SnapNames	$172
2281.com	09/01/05	Pool $70
3537.com	08/28/05	SnapNames	$96
9907.com	08/28/05	SnapNames	$67
I can tell you there is more than just one or two people bidding up the prices. On some days there are upwards to 50 particpants in these private auctions. It seems that many domainers have figured out that these domains are in high demand (in both the Western and non-Western cultures) and the traffic can be very nice.
