I admit I don't know what the hell I'm doing as far as trying to make a profit basically registering domains names on my own at registration prices so I'm asking for some advice. I keep reading that there are going to be no LLL.AI left in a short time and they all will be worth something more than the $150 2 year registration fee. I just sold one doomain I had for a year, YJE.Ai for $400 on Ebay & decided to register another one, YRN.ai for $150 for 2 years. This one had 2 appraisals from different tools from$1100 to $3,200. I know this doesn't mean anything but I thought its a smart thing to register even though they are essentially random letters. Good idea or stupid idea? I'm relying on the belief that there won't be any 3LLLs left on AI very soon.

As ar as the LLLL.com I did see someone trying to sell a bunch with 4 random letters from anywhere I think from $65-240. Is it a bad idea to buy LLLL.coms of random letters with the hope of reselling them to make a profit? Again these are not single words just random letters.

Appreciate your opinion.

There's a lot of different variable combinations at play with either of those that affect the value.

However, if you are just talking about a reseller/investor/wholesale floor value for random letters, no repeating letters, not a word, not pronounceable, not brandable, and not a common acronym, then the following are a safe entry points in today's market:

LLL.ai = $20 to $45
LLLL.com = $65 to $95

Once you exceed that for a random letter in those combinations with the BOLD RED above in mind, you start cutting into your potential profit margins and getting closer to break-even or loss status.

That's just my opinion after decades of analyzing and evaluating various TLD's (Before the dot and after the dot combinations).

For VIP, Pro and Gold members, this is a x3 batch (Random Letter) LLLL.com Purchase ($50 ea.) + Quick-Flip for profit venture I did back in 2023 and logged all the numbers for it: https://www.namepros.com/threads/domain-investment-capital-options.1293107/post-8884684

It's clear in that venture that if I had paid much more (back then), it would have cut deep into my profits, which weren't very impressive, but still profits (90.36% ROI ($497 profit) in 4mo.'s).

Thank you for this, mainly he Com. .Ai I am more confused than ever. From what I've experienced, the cheapest it costs to register an AI is $149 for 2 years minimum. Therefore the $20-$45 for AI to me makes no sense. You addressed the "no repeating letters, not a word, not pronounceable, not brandable, and not a common acronym" which was the core of my question but the AI part doesn't make sense given it costs $149 to register a name.

Unfortunately, some registrars/registrys price their premiums on the high side, cutting out resellers and leaving little to no meat on the bone to make a profit.

In short, if you're going for a 3l .Ai, make sure its not random letters, since much of the meat is gone from that bone, increasing risk.

That's just my opinion, though.

The problem is the few LLL AI's still available to register are all random letters as you descibed at $149 2 year minimum. I personally don't have the money to buy decent domains from others which I accept. I'm still going by the belief that there soon won't be any LLL >AI domains left and unless shown differently, I'll operate on the assumption people will pay $250 up for them. Having said that, I won't register more than 1 at a time. Same with buying random 4 letter Coms. Thanks again for your input.
