That is an AWESOME premise for a sci-fi/horror movie! Though it's been in done in some form or another. Just maybe not giant edamame bursting out of some poor schmuck's belly.Erm...I don't think I would want to eat those anytime soon unless it's a matter or life or death to me. At least not now until they stabilize and do more research on 3D food![]()
Full Article: http://gizmodo.com/3d-tv-is-dead-le...source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflowTwo or three years ago at CES, this post probably would've been about some 3D TV equipped with dorky glasses, maybe a smart set that's more like a rusty Swiss army knife for home entertainment. This year, things are different. 3D is now a specter of CES past. With any luck, smart TVs are next on the chopping block.
CES 2015 is the year of 4K. TV makers have finally ditched the gimmicks and are simply pumping out big, beautiful televisions that produce big, beautiful images. We're back to TV 101: Make the picture better and make it affordable. This is good! But where LG, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and others excel at all that quantum dot, pixel splitting, color gamut stuff, their "smart" TV software sucks. It's so bad in fact, that we're actually shocked when we see a new TV OS that isn't terrible

3D Printing is interesting as well:Beside that, this thread has become 3d printing themed anyway.
Makerbotโperhaps the most consumer-friendly of 3D printer manufacturersโis about to go a long way toward turning the tech into something consumers can actually use. Starting late this year, MakerBot is going to let you 3D print with a range of new materials, including composites of limestone, iron, and wood.
Full article: http://gizmodo.com/makerbot-is-lett...source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflowThe new PLA filaments are made with composites of the actual material they're meant to replicate, meaning that what you 3D print doesn't have to just be a plastic model of what you want. It's going to lookโand feelโa hell of a lot more like the object it's imitating. The new filaments will be compatible with the fifth-generation MakerBot Replicators. All you'll have to do is swap out the extruder, and you'll be ready to print with wood, bronze, or whatever else your heart desires.
Full article: http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/innovat...s-plan-make-rifle-parts-texas-capitol-n280601In Austin, Texas, gun rights activists plan to gather on Jan. 13 at the State Capitol to press lawmakers to pass more permissive open-carry laws. Besides protest signs and their own guns, they are also bringing a machine: the Ghost Gunner. It's made by Defense Distributed, the Austin-based company that made headlines after 3-D printing the "Liberator" plastic gun. Come And Take It Texas (CATI), the group behind the rally, will use it to carve the metal receivers used in AR-15 rifles. "Anybody can purchase one of these to print firearms in their own homes," Murdoch Pizgatti, president of CATI, told NBC News.
