Do you guys think it's better for domainers if industrial 3D printing takes off first, or if consumer 3d printing takes off first?

Maybe generic 3D printing domain names, like 3DPrintWebsite.com, will fare better if consumer 3d printing takes off. Alternatively, specialized 3D printing domains, like 3DPrototypePrinting.com, may fare better if industrial 3d printing takes off first.

I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts/examples.

From memory i have portrait3dprinting.com so i guess for me the personal stuff is better โ€ฆ. however i also have parts3dprinting so i like the commercial aspect as well. Although i have gift3dprinting so i guess i like โ€ฆโ€ฆ.. oh you get the idea

I noticed FDMPrototyping.com was available on 4/1, but forgot to reg it. Now it's gone. :'(

I think that might have been a costly mistake.

I got Refabricating.com thought it would be good for 3dprinting

Even though there is not a 3d in it or print I still thought Refabricating.com would be good for a 3d printer/maker what do you guys think?

Well, PJPPrototyping.com (another rapid prototyping method) was still available until just an hour ago, but now gone as well (thanks to myself lol )

Is it worth regging the whole word "printed"? wouldn't the guy that has 3Dprint+keyword or 3D+keyword have what the enduser wants?

I see tonnes of cool "printed" names but the others are always gone.

I have a few screenshots of some domains that i was on the fence about picking up a year ago before i discovered coupon codes and this forum. Culinary3dprinter and culinary3dprinting among a few other variations were definitely in my cart and i didnt follow thru with grabbing them, regretfully. I did grab 3/d/p/r/i/n/t/s/u/g/a/r.com and few others that pertain to food printing, and i hope they will pay off at some point.

As far as objects go, I definitely think 3dprinted+noun is the best option. 3d+keyword looks better imo because it's shorter, but printed has more to offer for keyword searches. You also have to consider most good 3d+keyword terms were taken before 3dprinting even started booming because of all the other 3d technologies etc..

I found a lot of good ones a few months back, but I chose to shy away from all 3d+printed domains. After all, whether X object is printed or manufactured, it's still just called "X".

I just don't see many of them having value long term. Especially when 3d print manufacturing becomes commonplace in the future.

I think there is room for all combinations. These have all sold in the last year or so:

3DprintedFashions.com $1247
3DprintedFurniture.com $1350
3DprintedHats.com $2500
3DShoes.com $4000

And I sold PrintedFood.com for $2500

In fact, I think ultimately, Printedxxxx.com will command the most value...
