Just a quick question. Four years ago I stated that the best 3D names were long gone (regged prior to 2006). In fact the highest-selling 3D names over the last few years appear to have been regged many years prior to 2006. So because of my belief that there were no longer any good 3D names, I started regging "S3D" names, which is, technically, the correct designation and one used in many countries outside the US.

"S3D" stands for "stereoscopic 3D". It can also stand for "super 3D" when companies take up trying to differentiate their 3D products from their rivals.

Do you think "S3D" will ever have the same clout as "3D"?

No

Was reading more of the subject and they're using 3D printing for surgeries and the creation of implants. It is making a big fuzz in the past couple of weeks alone.

This will no doubt revolutionize the industry in the coming years. I've snagged a few names already.

Oh well. And I was hoping that some of my names, S3DPrinting.com, S3DPrinter.com, S3DPrinters.com, S3DModeling.com, S3DSoftware.com and about 20 others would be worth something.

Live and learn.

Thanks.

I wouldn't say they are worthless, but likely won't make you rich. I think you mean Stereolithography 3d printers. If that's the case, only some printers use Stereolithography, while others are FDM (Fused deposition modeling) methods.

Stereolithography is when a laser hardens resin. The Makerbots and Cubes of the world are all FDM models.

I came across spectrom today in a 3d printing article, and immediately regged in .com

3dspectrom

If you aren't aware of spectrom, give it a quick Google search.

I feel like there is huge potential with this name, but I wanted to make certain there weren't any legal issues. I don't think there is, but overall opinions?

Wait you found 1 legal issue? I returned 0 results on uspto.gov for spectrom.

Also, I think I've gone a little overboard, but I've become obsessed with 3d related domains. I've got a list of about 100 or so that I'm about to hand reg, and I legitimately feel like they are all valuable.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the cheapest method I could use to reg this many domains?

My advice would be to not register them, all the decent names were regged ages ago. You are better off finding some decent names that are regged already and email the owners to find a bargain. People have been regging these names for the last 6 or 7 years, the chance of just finding 100 decent names is very unlikely

Im not having a go, just trying to save you some money because you will end up wasting your money on these, unless there is one (or a handful) of gem that sells for decent $$

sorry i meant there was one trademark (pumps) but not related to your category, Although a search of the madrid will be a more thorough search

No offense taken, the advice and discussion is what we're all here for in the first place!

I've been researching 3d printing and its related areas heavily over the past month or so, and constantly staying on top of the new trends and future predictions/innovations to try and get an edge on keywords. Then I decide the best possible domain combinations by comparing them across different keyword tools and monitoring trends.

So even though I've missed out on all the generic 3d related domains, I'm taking a gamble on certain keywords that have potential to takeoff in the near future. I definitely will be hunting down owners of already regged domains as a part of my strategy, but I really am convinced that the 3D niche is the only place you can still make incredible profits off hand regs.

It's going to explode! 100 years from now textbooks are going to be referring to this period as the 3D Revolution. :tu:

I just got back from one of the biggest 3d printing conferences ever, in NYC. Got to talk a bit to Autodesk CEO Carl Bass, 3D Systems CEO Avi Reichental, among other big names in the industry. It was a very interesting few days for sure. Posted a lot of pictures, notes, and information from the conference here: http://3dprintboard.com/forumdisplay.php?68-Inside-3D-Printing-Conference

And no, I did not try selling 3DPrint dot com to any of them lol.

Thanks John.

This looks like a great weekend wish i would have been there :(

So how do you see 3D expanding now?

Are there any things we should be looking out for new technologies and the likes?

Thanks

Brett.
