Here is another test to do: Search in Google with and without the quotes as in "nieuws srilanka". When you don't use quotes it's like a broad match. The results you see will have the words on the page, but they may not be close together.
When you search with quotes, those works MUST be on the page together and in the same order. This is like the exact match.
Even if there were many searches for those words, you may not get any hits to your parked domain. People would have to type in the domain name directly and the number that do that is not large, and gets smaller as the domain name gets longer.
Lastly, "nieuws" does not seem to be English, so you should limit your research to the language or country where it is used.
You have 5 days to get a refund on a domain you register, but I would keep it. You can still make a nice site out of it and it will be a reminder of this painful domain learning experience we all have to go through.
